Hottie Ryan Gosling has been tapped to star in the yet-to-be-made movie adaptation of 50 Shades of Grey. According to Digital Spy, novelist Bret Easton Ellis recently expressed serious interest in turning E.L. James‘ bestselling erotic fiction into a film, and he has given his thoughts on who should appear in the movie. Ellis has been tweeting continuously as he approached the studio, and then began hypothesizing who would play the lead roles. So, we know he wants Ryan Gosling, but who else are they after? Who should be his Ana?
Bret Easton Ellis went to his official Twitter account to start the discussion about his plan for a film adaptation of 50 Shades of Grey. The bestseller, part of a trilogy, is definitely one of the hottest books right now. If you haven’t read it, it is erotic, amusing, and deeply moving. I can almost guarantee that it will overtake you, like it did me.
What is it about? A young literature student, Anastasia Steele, goes to interview young entrepreneur Christian Grey, and she encounters a man who is beautiful, brilliant, and intimidating. Despite his enigma, Ana realizes that she is compelled to him, and thus begins her desperate attempt to get close to him. A thrilling, erotic, daring and dark tale ensues. It is a great book, and I’m not surprised that a film adaptation is already in the works. Nothing has actually been confirmed yet about a movie, but Bret has started meeting with studio execs and is seemingly very serious about turning this novel into a film.
Ellis tweeted “Okay. Today the team has been briefed and we will be approaching the studio this week about BEE adapting Fifty Shades of Grey into a film…”Thanks to everyone supporting BEE adapting Fifty Shades of Grey: the response has been huge and amazing. Hope E.L. James feels the same way.
“The casting of Christian in Fifty Shades of Grey wouldn’t be up to me but I have certain actors in mind. And a particular actress for Ana.” He continued: “I think David Cronenberg is a great idea for directing Fifty Shades of Grey and we worked together on American Psycho in its initial phase. “Cronenberg and Alexander Skarsgård is a no-brainer. I’ve seen Alexander naked so many times at the gym that we both attend: perfect casting.
“For Fifty Shades of Grey: David Cronenberg, Alexander Skarsgård, Bret Easton Ellis and who as… Anastasia???
“I would love it if we lived in a world where Lena Dunham could be Ana in Fifty Shades of Grey but I don’t think we do. I think she’s hot.”
“Thinking more conventionally for Ana in Fifty Shades of Grey: Scarlett Johansson or Kristen Stewart. Alex Pettyfer as Christian: too young? “Aaron Johnson as Christian Grey? In a perfect world it would be Ryan Gosling as Christian Grey…”David Cronenberg directing. Bret Easton Ellis writing. Ryan Gosling acting. Fifty Shades of Grey team… Shades of Grey.”
Hmm….. I personally don’t want to see Scarlett Johansson as Ana. I think Kristen Stewart could do it, but she might not be soft or naive enough to play this role. I can actually see Ryan Gosling taking on the role of Christian Grey. He has the intrigue, sex appeal and enough darkness to get the balance right. I’m still not sure who would be a good Ana…
I am pretty excited about the prospects of this book being turned into a movie, but clearly the casting will make or break it, particularly as so many people have love the novel and already have a picture of Christian and Ana in their minds. What do you think of the casting for this movie? And, are you excited about a film adaptation of 50 Shades Of Grey?
