Lindsay Lohan Hospitalized After Car Accident [UPDATE]

Yikes!! Lindsay Lohan is currently hospitalized here in SoCal because she was involved in a pretty serious car accident earlier today. Apparently, Lindsay’s Porsche slammed into an 18-wheel truck on Pacific Coast Highway around 12pm PT. As far as I can determine, Lindsay isn’t seriously injured but she is still hospitalized. Thankfully, no one else was hurt.

Lindsay Lohan was in a bad car accident and is in the emergency room at an L.A. hospital … TMZ has learned. Lindsay Lohan was driving her black Porsche on the Pacific Coast Highway when it slammed into the back of an 18 wheeler around noon. The Porsche is totaled. The passenger window was shattered and the bumper was fully off her car. We’re told she did not go to the hospital by ambulance, although we are told an ambulance was called to the scene. No word on her condition, although we’re told she seems ok. Doctors are performing tests … Lindsay was driving the car, and we’re told she’s saying that the accident wasn’t her fault, claiming the 18 wheeler cut her off.

Head over to TMZ to see photos of Lindsay’s damaged Porsche. They photos are pretty scary-looking so it’s a miracle that Lindsay wasn’t seriously hurt. It remains to be seen what, if any, injuries Lindsay suffered in this accident … it also remains to be determined who was really at fault. I’ll be sure to update with new information as soon as it becomes available. Yikes.

UPDATE: Extra TV is reporting that Lindsay has been released from the hospital:

Actress Lindsay Lohan was involved in a major car accident Friday when her black Porsche collided with a dump truck on the Pacific Coast Highway in L.A. – but her rep says she is “fine” and back on the set of her Lifetime TV movie “Liz & Dick.” Lohan’s rep told “Extra” that “Lindsay was involved in an automobile accident today on her way to the set. She was taken to Santa Monica UCLA hospital as a precaution. She is fine and was released less than two hours later and is already headed back to the set to resume work. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the accident.”

Well this is good news. Glad to hear that Lindsay is unharmed.

  • Krissy

Glad she was ok. But I gotta wonder if the cops at the scene tested her for DUI.

    • Jenn

  • bill

Off topic, but is that a recent picture? If so, glad to see her lips and cheeks have died down!

    • @bill — No, not recent photos.

Usually the person doing the rear-ending is at fault, majority of the time. And anyone who knows anything about large trucks like 18 wheelers would know that it couldn’t just cut her off. Those are difficult vehicles to manouver that quickly.

      ^ EXACTLY!

I just had one cut me off on I-75. He abruptly changed lanes, no turn signal, swerved into the gap. It was on Memorial Day through Tennessee, and I freaked out, called his company, and reported him.

Actually, it’s fairly easy for an 18-wheeler to cut off another driver. I’ve had it happen to me and seen it happen to other people more than once. I think since most people don’t let truckers over when they need to merge, they start getting more forceful.

I have them cut me off all the time in the rural area where I live. They drive like idiots, and many of them don’t check before pulling out or changing lanes. I’ve had many a close call myself.

Not saying that’s what happened here, but it is entirely plausible and possible for them to cut you off.

I read somewhere else that her assistant was hurt and taken away in the ambulance.

Please, someone, put this young woman in a bubble so she can no longer hurt herself. Geez.

  • Missy

In the state of California, if you did the hitting, you’re at fault.
