Newly Engaged Miley Cyrus Shows Off Her Ring [UPDATE]

Bling, Bling

Now that everyone is getting over the fact that young lovebirds, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have gotten themselves engaged to be married, we can concentrate on all the really important things – such as her RING. After celeb engagement news is unveiled the topic almost always turns automatically to the bling. What is it? How big is it? Who designed it? The Liley case was no different. Just a mere hours after the engagement news, the topic turned to what is on her left ring finger.

While the new bride-to-be Miley hasn’t come out and shown us her engagement ring, various reports are publishing what the jeweler that reportedly designed her ring has said. Just like in the case of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, and the curious case of Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez – their respective jewelers were the ones to spill the beans about the bling.

People magazine is reporting today that celebrity jeweler Neil Lane was the one who created Miley’s engagement ring, which she apparently is already wearing, so Liam must have proposed with it.

When Liam Hemsworth approached celebrity jeweler Neil Lane to create an engagement ring for Miley Cyrus, he wanted “something unusual,” Lane tells PEOPLE exclusively. “Something really beautiful and romantic.” What The Hunger Games star got was a 3.5-carat cushion-cut diamond ring, handcrafted in 18-karat gold with intricately carved diamond floral motifs in an art nouveau pattern. And the center stone is extra special: it’s an antique dating back to the late 19th century.

“It was hand-cut around 1880 or 1890 and it’s unique and in its original form,” Lane says. “At that time no two diamonds were alike, as they were all hand-cut, so it’s fascinating to look at because it hasn’t been re-cut to look contemporary over the years. I find that really romantic.”

Hemsworth was happy with the final result; Lane says the two “worked back and forth and it’s everything he was looking for.” Finished just last week, it was all ready for Hemsworth’s May 31 proposal.

This is the pic that People magazine, and lots of other sources, have published purporting to be the engagement ring that Miley is wearing. We are yet to actually see it on her finger up close, and this could be a mock-up of the design, but so far this is what we got.

Allow me to focus on the ring for a bit rather than the engagement (I know, I know, it is ridiculous how much we fixate on diamonds and THE ring!) This one is definitely unique, it isn’t the usual white gold or platinum that we have come to see from most celeb engagement rings recently. Miley certainly has a bit of a bohemian style to her so I am not that surprised that she has gone for something a bit different. I do loove the idea of the antique stone which dates back to around 1880 or 1890, and the vintage aesthetic is very pretty, but this style is not for everyone I would guess. Isn’t Liam adorable though working with the jeweler and proposing with the ring? I know that some people are skeptical of this engagement and fear that Miley and Liam are too young, but I for one am a sucker for romance, and I can’t help being sucked into this story.

What do you think of Miley’s engagement bling?

UPDATE: Miley has *just* been spotted at LAX sporting her new engagement ring. You can’t quite see the details of it, but you can certainly see that the ring is yellow gold and looks pretty similar to the one in the pic above from the jeweler. The center stone is also bigger than I had initially assumed from the drawing. She is definitely enjoying showing it off by the way she is holding her hand -good for her, I say.

If that is it, or very similar, it is a spectacular ring. Very different and IMO quite original. Never seen something like that before and completely agree Mel, very Miley!

I do prefer white gold but this works very well! I hope it works out for them, like I said in the prev. post, a long engagement might be a better thing, but who are we to know or judge!?

  2. For all the flack Miley’s getting for being engaged before she’s 20 that is one beautiful ring. She should wear it only in happiness. One of the best celebrity engagement rings I’ve seen in a while (if that is the real thing).

This ring is absolutely gorgeous. Liam did a phenomenal job. It’s unique and not too flashy or over the top, which is exactly what I expected for Miley. I couldn’t see her walking around with a Kardashian-esque ring on her finger.

  4. Brittany

When I saw this ring it made me think that it would fit for Miley. It’s a gorgeous ring but not overly gaudy for being a celebrity engagement ring. I’ll be interested to see how it looks on her finger. Congrats to the couple!

I am so happy for these two. I hate that people are damming them from the start, it’s not fair. I think Miley and Liam ground each other very well. Miley has become more of a homebody over the course of the last 3 years with Liam. You haveI to think that Miley is more mature then your average 19 year old just from what she’s had to experience as a star, the hollywood life makes you grow up fast. I’ve watched Miley go through some stages the last few years (salvia, the pole at the teen choice awards lol.) But as of late you can see she’s really matured not only physically in how she dresses and acts but by her music and what she’s truly passionate about. She’s turned into a very passionate young woman and I commend her and Liam for being able to live a normal life together without show casing it to the world. I’m gunning for these two bc I think they’re so adorbs. Miley has been great at weathering the storm from the media so I pray that they ignore the negative comments and enjoy where they’re at in they’re lives. She should be on cloud 9 and shame on the people saying otherwise!

As for the ring, that’s the FIRST gold ring that I’ve ever seen that I actually like :) Just another reason why I think Liam is ready. He did everything the right way! Waited the appropriate years and actually planned a ring and a proposal. Aww.

  6. I was engaged at 19 and married at 20. We’ll be married 6 years in August and had a baby a year ago. Not all young marriages fail all the time. That’s a gorgeous ring. I got white good but I wish I had gotten yellow gold now.

  7. it really is the perfect ring for her. Liam did a good job.

I’m sure she loves the ring and him. BUT it’s not for me…I don’t care for it.

yeah-I’m with ya.Yellow Gold and diamond-I just don’t care for the combo…and the carving isn’t my style. But hey,if she is happy who are we to judge. Not like she is going to be wearing it for very long.

    • JCZ

So then you do judge her? Lol

  9. Lauren

They’re known as Miam, not Liley, just fyi.

  10. Megan

Stunning ring, I hate myself for admitting this but I love her style! I not really for young engagements/marriages but I wish them only happiness.
