Leighton Meester Wins Messy And Sad Lawsuit Against Her Mother

It sounds like antics from an episode of Gossip Girl, but no, this is actually a story from Leighton Meester’s real life. Leighton has been involved in a bizarre and messy court case against her mother, Constance Meester, claiming her mom wrongfully stole money that she sent home each month for her sick brother, using it instead on things such as cosmetic surgery. The case gets messier and of course, more sad. It is seriously like Blair Waldorf has taken home a script from the set of Gossip Girl and it has come to life.

TMZ reported that a judge has ruled in favor of Leighton’s motion to not have any contact with her mother after she filed a lawsuit in July 2011. The reports are saying that Leighton has been sending home $7,500 a month specifically for her sick brother, and her mother has been taking the money and using it to finance cosmetic procedures such as Botox, hand fillers and hair extensions. But wait, it gets worse – according to the Huffington Post report, Leighton’s mother countersued her daughter, alleging that she repeatedly hit her with a bottle and that she had been promised by Leighton $10,000 a month for the rest of her life.

Ugh, doesn’t this sound exactly like an episode out of Gossip Girl? Poor Leighton has found herself trapped in a real life GG scenario, but instead of Bergdorf Goodman and the Upper East Side to comfort her alter ego, Blair, she has a big dose of reality. Without getting into the legal side of things, this case is just sad because mothers and daughters should not be involved in these kinds of situations, unless it is for a soap opera’s plot. I’m sure that there is more to it all, but Constance just sounds plain awful – imagine taking money your child is sending for their sick sibling and using it on Botox. Ugh yuk!
