Last night at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards Emma Watson not only looked gorgeous on the red carpet but she presented the unveiling of her new movie, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, alongside her co-stars Logan Lerman and Ezra Miller. The film adaptation of Stephen Chbosky’s coming-of-age novel tells the story of Charlie, a shy high school freshman, as he finds his place at school and in the world. From the makers of Juno, this one is about first love, heartache, teenage suicide, mental illness and, oh yes, some poignant comedy too. Watch the trailer here – this is one to get excited about…
Emma Watson really is hot stuff at the moment. The beautiful Brit made a name for herself playing Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film series but is now well and truly a household name in her own right. Her role in this new movie, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, is definitely proof of that. It may be a coming of age film, but it is also a coming of age in other ways too.
Based on the novel written by Stephen Chbosky, this is about 15-year-old Charlie (Logan Lerman), an endearing and naive outsider, coping with first love (Emma Watson), the suicide of his best friend, and his own mental illness while struggling to find a group of people with whom he belongs. The introvert freshman who is taken under the wings of two seniors who welcome him to the real world.
This movie trailer really speaks to me and I’ll definitely be checking it out.. will you??
