Filming for the Hunger Games sequel will start soon so it’s about time the movie studio gets down to casting the main characters. As some of you are well aware, Finnick Odair is a big character in Catching Fire. Today we learn that the studio has reportedly selected its 3 top choices to play the character in the film. We also learn that the official title of the sequel film is The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Has The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire found its Finnick Odair? Not just yet, but it sounds like the movie franchise’s studio Lionsgate could be getting close to finally picking its man to play the dreamy tribute. A source tells us at that the top three names being bantered about right now are Armie Hammer, Taylor Kitsch and Garrett Hedlund. The source also says that a final decision from the studio may be announced as early as this week. However, another source says the studio may also be looking at unknowns à la Brad Pitt in Thelma & Louise. Filming is scheduled to begin in the fall with Francis Lawrence taking over the directing reigns from Gary Ross. Catching Fire will be released on Nov. 22, 2013 … Reps for the three did not comment. A Lionsgate rep said, “As with the first film, we won’t be confirming, denying or commenting on any casting rumors for this title. We will announce news wide when there is official casting news to announce.”
I guess these guys are OK for the part. Thankfully, Robert Pattinson will NOT be playing the role of Finnick Odair. If I had to rank these three in my order of beauty preference, I’d go Taylor Kitsch – Armie Hammer – Garrett Hedlund. But, really, I’d be happy if the studio did find a great unknown actor. Finnick has to be unbelievably handsome and, if they plan on staying true to the book, very scantily clad. I imagine someone really tall and very muscly — but not too muscly. I dunno … I guess I can’t let myself picture any of these actors in the role until I know they got the part. What do y’all think? Do any of these guys look like Finnick to you? If not, who would YOU pick for the role?

I have been picturing Garrett Hedlund since I read the book.
I’d be fine with any of these three, but I’ve loved the idea of Jesse Williams in the role since it was rumored online last month.
My favorite for the role would be Ryan Kwanten from True Blood. He looks the part, and he was into swimming/surfing etc. before he became an actor. I kind of doubt these choices, because I don’t think Lionsgait would tease the information.
If these are the options, I think I rate them as
1. Taylor (that picture is pretty convincing!)
2. Garrett (I think he has a lot of potential acting wise)
3. Arnie (he just doesn’t do it for me).
yea i LOVED the idea of jesse williams. plus theres the whole diversity factor. and after all the racist reactions towards Rue i really wanna stick it to all those assholes lol but of the three, i even pictured someone like armie hammer while reading the books. i think its the flippy hair lol

I also loved Jesse Williams as the role. Color me dissapointed.
Of the three, I guess I would go with Armie Hammer…I don’t think Taylor Kitsch is pretty enough :-/ I was really pulling for Trevor Donovan, actually.

I’m still holding out hope that Jesse Williams is still in the running. I heard these final three are not for sure yet, but of the three I’d pick Armie. I would really love an unknown though.

Armie was very talented in the social network. In terms of acting ability, I’d feel most comfortable with him.
While reading Catching Fire I immediately pictured Armie Hammer in the role before I even knew who they were considering.

I was curious so I had to look this up. Finnick won his Hunger Games when he was 14. His game was #64 so he should be about 23 or 24.
That being said I don’t really see any of these guys as Finnick.
Oops, that was slightly wrong. He won the 65th games. But the age range is still right. It would have been 10 years, so about 24.
I thought this was confirmed as a massive rumor and none have actually been approached…?
For kicks, though… I’d go with Taylor. Then Garrett. Armie never.
Im not a fan of any, they all look so young. I guess when I was reading I pictured someone older, maybe 30′s.
God, please don’t let it be Taylor Kitsch. He has the bod but not the face, definitely not the face for Finnick. Armie all the way, he has the look and the acting ability. Finnick has a kind heart and Armie has that kind of look in his eyes. He would make a wonderful Finnick!

None of them, they’re too young. I was under the impression that Finnick was older than Katniss. If I remember correctly, there’s even a line in ‘Catching Fire’ where she says something like although he had aged, he still looked good.
I was picturing more Chris Zylka from The Secret Circle.
If it’s not Armie I’m gonna be pissed. He’s the only one remotely close to being a good Finnick out of the three.

I would have preferred Zach Roerig of The Vampire Diaries. But if these three are the top 3 choices, I would rather see Armie Hammer.
Armie was always my choice right from the start. He’s perfect. Taylor is hot but really doesn’t resemble how the character is described.

When I read the books, I had pictured Brad Pitt when he was in Troy. Perfect for Finnick. Too bad he has aged since then.
Out of those 3, definitely the one in the middle. He’s hot but he also gives off that slightly off vibe. He’s not so pretty he can’t pull of the tortured thing. He’s perfect!
I’m mad Jesse Williams isn’t in the running. I think he would be a fantastic Finnick. I think Armie Hammer’s skin is a bit too light for what I pictured while reading. If these are the top three, then I guess I’d go with the middle guy.
That said, I still want Jesse!

I think Armie looks the part but his voice and slight–I guess I would call it–affectation/rich person accent, sound way to proper to be from one of the districts other than the capitol in Panem. I don’t like any of the three.
