A Date With Morrissey

The TV Guide

Yesterday was a nice, chill day for me. It was a non-run day so I got to spend some time doing other things … like hanging out with my friend Tony, who I hadn’t seen in ages. Tony and I grabbed a late lunch/early dinner at Joan’s on Third so that we could catch up on one another’s lives. He and I are going to try and reconnect for another hang sesh next week. Last night, I chilled on the couch and just relaxed. I wanted to save up my strength because today I’m taking a drive up to Bakersfield to see Morrissey in concert!

Y’all know how much I love Moz so it shouldn’t really come as a big surprise that I’m trekking out to see him. He played San Diego earlier this week on his birthday and then he plays Bakersfield tonight … no LA date so, road trip for me. Honestly, I’d drive almost anywhere to see the man in concert. He is truly one of my fave performers and I will never tire of seeing him in concert. I can’t wait!!

I hope all y’all have a great Friday and a great Memorial Day weekend to come!

Bakersfield? Really? That’s an interesting tour location!

    Have fun!

    • @Janaegal — I’ve seen Moz in Escondido and Pomona before … shows that are outside of LA are much more fun because the crowd is much more appreciative. I don’t mind the drive for a really superb show :)

Have a blast! I am driving all the way out to Stockton to see him tomorrow night ha ha. Just thinking about what classic Smiths tunes he might throw in to the set makes me giddy. Can’t wait!

    Gotta love the Mozzer!

I got to meet Trent in the aisle at the concert tonight so I am really geeked out…what a great show Morrissey put on for us with many Smiths songs (I got my wish of How Soon is Now). Thank you Trent for letting me introduce myself, I have been a long time fan and appreciate your opinion on all things music. Hope Bako treated you well tonight!

My weekend is expected to be a bomb. With 250,000 low class minorities,600 policemen,2 cops on every corner and a police car by them it bodes to be a mess and a very dangerous mess since 1/2 of those low class minorities carry heat.It is the Old West in the Southeast.Fun,fun,fun.YEEEEEEEEEA……….

he is only doing 6 US tour dates. i saw him here on maui on may 18th… excellent show and he sounded incredible. the set list was a perfect mix of the smiths and morrissey. did he do meat is murder in bakersfield? it was over the top, but the arrangement was amazing. i loved it.

      Conn:

He did perform Meat is Murder at the Bakersfield show…yes over the top with the video but the song was very well done. I feel privileged that he traveled up to Bakersfield to see us. His voice was just as incredible as I would have imagined him 25 years ago. My brother and I counted at least 5 Smiths songs tonight…we were not expecting that! I would love to be in Maui again someday!

Yes, his voice was incredible. I was thrilled to hear at least 6 Smiths songs here. Right before he sang his encore – Still Ill – he said “I’d like to think, that, in your world of… sunlight, I have… brought… a little shadow”. Then he put on the lei that fans threw at him. He proceeded to tear them from around his neck and throw the flowers back at the crowd in true Morrissey style.

    • @conn — Amazing! sounds like a fantastic show!!
