This week was the 2012 FiFi Awards, also known as the Oscars of the fragrance industry. We all know that celebrities lurve their products, and nothing has done as well, or been as overdone, as the celebrity fragrance. It seems that almost every single star has at least one fragrance or perfume, from the biggest celebs to the newest starlets. The Fragrance Foundation gives out annual awards for the top perfumes of the year. Find out below who won the awards for 2012 in the olfactory awards night of nights.
Yes, I know, they are fragrance awards, but I thought you might be interested in knowing which celebrity is considered to have the so-called “best” perfume. The FiFi Awards come to us from The Fragrance Foundation, and they even have a Hall Of Fame. In the Luxe Women’s category, Tom Ford’s Violet Blonde won and the Luxe Men winner was Gucci’s Guilty Pour Homme. Tom Ford also took home the awards for the Nouveau Niche Women and Men categories.
Last year, the award in the Broad Appeal Women category went to Fergie for her perfume, Outspoken Intense, but this year, Heidi Klum took home the trophy for her debut fragrance Shine, which she launched in September 2011.
The other big winner of the this year’s fragrance awards was Justin Bieber, who took home the Elizabeth Taylor Fragrance Celebrity of the Year Award for his 2011 women’s scent, Someday.
“I’m honored to be named Elizabeth Taylor Fragrance Celebrity of the Year,” the “Boyfriend” singer said during his acceptance speech via telecast. “It means a lot to me that my fans and The Fragrance Foundation support all my accomplishments. The best part is that my favorite charity is sharing in the success; it is important to pay it forward. Plus I have the girls smelling great.”
I’m kinda of the mindset that celebrity fragrances are silly, but I do understand that they are an important part of the celebrity brand machine, and some of them, like our dear Britney Spears‘ perfume, are extremely successful. I’m not sure how The Fragrance Foundation determines which perfume is the “best” because scents are just so subjective, and I have no doubt that there is a publicity spin involved, but nevertheless, congrats are in order for Justin Bieber, Heidi Klum and Tom Ford for taking home a FiFi! I just love using that word… FiFi, FiFi, FiFi. What is your favorite celebrity fragrance?
