Sandra Bullock And Melissa McCarthy Partner Up For New Cop Movie

Miss Congeniality Again?

Today we have learned from Variety that a new cop movie is in the works and they have cast Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy as the two leads. Sandra is a cop movie veteran, having perfected the genre in the Miss Congeniality films, and Bridesmaids star, Melissa, is a newbie to the type of role. The yet to be titled movie follows the strained working relationship between a high-strung FBI agent, played by Sandra, and an unconventional Boston cop, Melissa, who team up to take down a Russian gangster.

Sandra is definitely a pro at playing the female cop, and even loves police so much she poses with them on the streets (as she did in this pic). In all seriousness though, it makes sense that they have cast her in this flick given that she is so familiar with the type of role. Personally, I’m more excited about Melissa McCarthy in this movie because I think she will be brilliant as the “unconventional cop.” I also love how she challenges herself with the kinds of roles she goes for. She is currently wrapping up filming for Seth Gordon’s comedy, Identity Thief, during her hiatus from the series Mike and Molly.

We obviously don’t know much yet about this new movie, but having Melissa in it makes it ever more appealing, to me anyway. A cop comedy in of itself isn’t super exciting, but I do think that she and Sandra will have good chemistry and Melissa is just so damn funny that I’d be keen to see this when it comes out just for her. What do you think of the casting?

Oh my goodness I love Sandra Bullock in Miss Congeniality and Mellissa McCarthy in Mike and Molly! They really are funny. I can’t wait to see this movie. I am glad Melissa will be returning for another season of Mike and Molly as well. I was able to catch the show on my Hopper. It records all the primetime shows for me since I work late at Dish. I can even skip through commercials in primetime TV using the Auto Hop feature!
