Bee Gees’ Robin Gibb Passes Away

Sad news to pass along today – Robin Gibb, one of the last members of the iconic pop group, the Bee Gees died on Sunday after his long battle with cancer. Robin was just 62 years old and even though he appeared to be getting better a few weeks ago after he woke from his coma, sadly we have learned today that he has passed away after a hard struggle with intestinal cancer and pneumonia.

A few weeks ago we heard that Robin, who had been undergoing chemotherapy for colon cancer for months, hit a further setback and was in a coma at a hospital in London after contracting pneumonia. A glimmer of hope was raised after Robin awoke from his coma after his family, including brother Barry Gibb, played music and sang to him during their bedside vigil.

Sadly, Robin’s fight ended though this weekend. We learned the news via People magazine of his passing, but the music icon’s rep released a statement saying, “The family of Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, announce with great sadness that Robin passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery. The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time”.

This is very sad news. Recently, we have lost too many great musical icons. Robin was unwell for a long time and sadly, he suffered, but lets hope that in the end he went peacefully with music and his family by his side. Lets send our best wishes and prayers to the Gibb family at this very difficult and sad time. Ugh!
