Tina Fey Surfaces On The Set Of Her New Movie ‘Admission’

It's Tina Time

Funny gal, Tina Fey, has turned up today in Bronxville, New York, on the set of her new movie Admission. A few weeks ago we first heard about the film as a potential prospect for Tina, but now we know that she is well and truly signed on, and filming has commenced. Check out Tina looking very Liz Lemon-esque in her new film..

She just has the best facial expressions, doesn’t she? It is hard to tell whether she is in character or herself though :)

As you may recall, the drama-comedy script for Admission is based on Jean Hanff Korelitz’s 2009 novel of the same name, and tells the story of an Ivy League admissions officer, Portia Nathan, who realizes that one of the potential students she is assessing may be the son she had years before when she herself was a student, and she ended up putting up for adoption. There was talk for a while of Owen Wilson signing onto the project but this never went ahead and his role went to Paul Rudd.

I love Tina Fey, and I’m always happy to see anything that she is in. While this doesn’t sound like a typical Tina role or movie, I can appreciate that she is wanting to challenge her typecast now that we know that 30 Rock is coming to an end. This role wont be all comedy, so I love that she is doing it! She is also due to star in the new Nancy Meyers film, The Intern. But, as much as she might be trying to leave 30 Rock behind, she just can’t seem to, and this is why I love her. Everything from her sneakers and jeans outfit, to her sweater and facial expressions are Liz Lemon-esque – she’s too cute! Are you looking forward to this new movie with Tina Fey?

I read the book and I think the facts are getting mixed up. Paul Rudd is likely playing the teacher of a student that Tina’s character gave up for adoption, not the actual student. The child is still in high school so I’m doubtful Paul (or Owen) could play that role. It’s also a little misleading to say that Tina’s character has a relationship with a 17-year-old student . . . unless they’re making significant changes to the book! The book was interesting, but not as comical as I typically expect from the roles Tina Fey (and Paul Rudd) play, though I’m curious with the casting choices.

    • @Tori- As I understand it they are making some changes to the book, but yes, you’re right, Paul will still be playing the role of another teacher, and Tina’s character will still be dealing with the fact that she thinks she has come across the son she gave up for adoption years before. It is definitely interesting casting with Tina. I’m excited to see how this pans out.

I LOVE Tina Fey! Smartypants was such a funny book, it gave me a mad girl crush on her.

Thank you! She in no way had a sexual relationship with a student, like the article makes it sound. Interesting casting though, since it’s not really a comedic role. I’m excited!

    • @Lo- yes, of course no sexual relationship with the student, but you’re right, the casting is fascinating. There is a lot of drama and seriousness to the role. I’m also excited to see Tina in this role!
