It might sound strange, but Brad Pitt is the new face of a classic female perfume, Chanel’s signature No.5 scent. Previous celebrity faces of the Chanel No. 5 brand include Nicole Kidman, Audrey Tautou and Catherine Deneuve. E! News said yesterday that they had sources which told them that Brad is going to be shooting a commercial for Chanel in London sometime this week, which will see him earn a huge 7 figures for the endorsement deal. Today, we have actual confirmation from Chanel themselves that Brad is the official new face of Chanel No.5.
The official Chanel Twitter account confirmed just now that yes, “CHANEL has selected world renowned actor Brad Pitt to be the face of the upcoming advertising campaign for CHANEL N°5″. They also posted the following pic of Brad…
A source tells E! News that the actor will be shooting his first perfume ad in London sometime this week (the superstar family has set up their most recent homestead in the UK). And for his endorsement troubles, Pitt will be bringing home some serious bacon for the Jolie-Pitt clan, with his paycheck for the spot somewhere in the seven-figures.
There is no denying that Brad has a pretty face, but a female perfume ad? Could Brad be the first male face of a female perfume? My initial reaction was that it doesn’t make sense for a man to try and sell a female fragrance, but having pondered on the topic a bit now I’m actually fascinated by the idea. I guess Brad could be sexy enough for women to want to have the perfume that will attract a Mr Pitt of their own. Hmm… what do you think? The Chanel No. 5 ad will be released overseas sometime later this year. I guess we will have to wait and see whether Brad is a good person to sell female Chanel perfume.
