Nicole Kidman Covers Australian ‘Harper’s Bazaar’ With Baby Daughter Faith

Family Portrait

A few days ago we got to see Nicole Kidman in character on the set of new new movie, The Railway Man. Today we get to see her looking more like herself, and a beautiful version at that, on the cover of Australian Harper’s Bazaar magazine. She is posing with her adorable 18 month old daughter, Faith Margaret, and it is a completely amazing shot. The cover line seems to be referencing Nic’s casting as the young Grace Kelly in Grace of Monaco. This is also just such a graceful, beautiful pic. Check out the image in full and what the editor said about how this photo came to be – it was a spontaneous, unplanned cover not meant for publication.

I love this photo. I know that Nicole gets a lot of criticism for various things, but in this pic, in my opinion, you really just get to see the mom and the beautiful woman. What is also so cool about this cover is that they set out to photograph Nic in a particular outfit, and in a particular way, but the story is that it didn’t work out because of lighting. Nic’s children arrived on the set after the shoot to see their mom and the photographer started to take some pics intended only to be used only for the Kidman-Urban family album. One of these photos became this cover shoot.

Kidman was booked for our cover shoot with a young Australian photographer and regular BAZAAR contributor, Will Davidson. The shoot took place a few hours out of Sydney in a country home with a perfect red dirt road, as envisioned by Davidson. Kidman arrived on time, without entourage, and even spotted the crew not a coffee but a coffee van — “my treat” — when she was told the cost was beyond the shoot budget. She was a willing photographic subject, talked to me in an unguarded and genuinely warm manner before the pictures, and later waited obligingly until dark for a specific Gucci dress to arrive. (In the end the light was so low that the shot didn’t make the cut.) Later in the afternoon, Sunday Rose and Faith arrived after their sleeps to see Mummy. Kidman didn’t want to put them down; Sunday Rose donned one of the tuxedo jackets from the clothing racks because it was getting chilly. The photographer then took some shots of Kidman with the girls solely for her family album.

I really love this photo and the intimacy it captures. I think it is a perfect cover representing Nicole. Even from the back, you can tell that Faith is just a total cutie. Her little head, mop of auburn hair and the way her baby hand is grabbing Nic’s arm is adorable. I really love this pic, do you??

Isn’t it somewhat odd that Kidman would be playing a young Grace Kelly-she is 45 and Kelly died at 52.What time of her life exactly are they trying to portray in the movie?

Am I the only one who is wondering what happened to the two kids Tom and Nicole adopted together? It’s weird enough that we never see Tom with Katie and Suri. But we haven’t seen or heard of their two adopted kids since the divorce. When anyone mentions Nicole or Tom’s kids, the two adopted kids aren’t ever mentioned. It’s like they never existed!

    • @Ella — I understand the kids want as much anonymity as possible. They are both teenagers and are old enough to know better about what they want and don’t want. As I understand it, Tom and Nicole choose to keep their children out of the press as much as possible.

@Trent- Thanks for the response. And I understand. It’s hard enough being a child of divorce without having cameras in your face the way they are with the offspring of celebs these days. They were kept pretty under wraps when they were together too.
