‘Lost’ Star Matthew Fox Busted!

DUI

Former Lost star Matthew Fox was arrested last Friday in Oregon on suspicion of driving under the influence. According to a report out today, Fox was nabbed by police in the wee hours of the morning as he ventured out in search of fast food. Specific details about the arrest are not yet available but it is believed that Matthew Fox was busted for drunk driving (as opposed to being impaired by another substance). Ugh, so disappointing.

“Lost” star Matthew Fox was busted for DUI Friday in Oregon … TMZ has learned. Law enforcement sources tell us, Matthew was arrested at 3:23AM on suspicion of driving under the influence. We’re told there was a passenger in the car. Matthew was taken into custody and released later that day. Details surrounding the arrest are unclear — but sources tell us, it was alcohol-related. We’re told Matthew was en route to a fast food restaurant for some late night eats at the time of his arrest. Matthew lives in Bend, Oregon with his family. Calls to Matthew’s reps were not returned.

Blah. I mean, how many times can someone express genuine disappointment with reckless and completely idiotic behavior like this? Moronity like this just goes to show that this kind of behavior happens all over the place, not just in big cities like LA. It’s not yet know who the other passenger in the car was but I am really hoping it wasn’t one of Fox‘s children. I’m not sure what the punishment system is like in Oregon but I truly hope that Matthew Fox is punished to the fullest extent of the law IF he is found guilty of this crime. Impaired driving is so dangerous because it can affect other, innocent people who happen to be on the road at the same time. Thankfully, no one was injured here.

Well said, and I completely agree!

  2. This is not surprising. There have been incidents in the news the last few years that point to him having a major alcohol problem. No excuse for this. Hope he gets help.

I think his actions have been his cry for help for awhile now. Hopefully he gets it before he or someone else gets killed by his lack of self-love.

If the “past incident” people are referring to is the bus driver who claimed he hit her…those charges were thrown out because there was no evidence to support the woman’s claims. There was security on scene, and they didn’t support the woman’s version of events.

Sad he chose to drink and drive. Disappointing, but I dont think it is something to eternally vilify people over. Maybe the media should focus more attention on the deaths caused by DUIs, so people know that the worst case senerio isn’t just getting arrested for it.

I don’t think anyone is advocating “eternally vilify[ing]” the man, but this did just happen. I’m not going to shrug my shoulders and say, “meh” when someone behaves in a ridiculously reckless manner. Don’t drink and drive, people, it’s REALLY not that hard!

I am a bit confused as to why Christine sounds defensive. You might not be vilifying him, but many people do when this happens to celebs. While shrugging one’s shoulders and saying “meh” isn’t helpful, I dont think that scornful comments on message boards help either. I understand the outrage, but no matter what, it isn’t helpful. I am trying to look at this from a place of productivity.

There have been so many examples of DUIs, not just celebs but it happens in local communities as well. The public at large is still making this mistake repeatedly. Clearly the embarassment-via-mugshot card doesn’t keep people from drinking and driving. Perhaps a 70s driver’s-ed video style of campaign would wake more people up to the facts: the worst thing that can happen is NOT that you will have a mug shot, it is that you can easily kill people. Maybe a focus on the victims would change things?

Meghan, I was just adding follow up to the story I had heard about. I didn’t see the conclusion reported on as much as the initial incident. I don’t have any interest in doing searches about him, I was just adding context to the most notorious. Feel free to report anything you find, though.

    • @Krissy-If you do some searching you will find that Matthew has been involved in several incidents where he was publicly very, very drunk. The bus driver incident was just one of several.
