Scarlett Johansson Gets A Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Scarlett Johansson, star of stage and screen, was honored here in SoCal yesterday on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Scarlett was presented with the 2,470th star on the Walk of Fame in front of family, friends and fans. As you may know, ScarJo stars in the blockbuster superhero film The Avengers, which opens in theaters tomorrow, so her WoF ceremony yesterday was perfectly timed to promote. Click below to see some photos from yesterday’s ceremony.

Actress Scarlett Johansson received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Wednesday, just two days before the release of her latest film, “The Avengers.” The 27-year-old received the 2,470th star. Johansson has been acting since she was 8, when she appeared in an off-Broadway production of “Sophistry.” Since then, Johansson received the first two of her four Golden Globe award nominations in 2003 for her performances in “Girl With a Pearl Earring” and “Lost in Translation.” She received additional Golden Globe nominations in 2004 for “A Love Song for Bobby Long” and 2005 for “Match Point.” Other film credits include “Vicky Cristina Barcelona,” “The Other Boleyn Girl,” “We Bought A Zoo,” “He’s Just Not That Into You” and “The Island.” Johansson said receiving a star close to Grauman’s Chinese Theatre makes her feel like she’s really made it.

Yes, well, Scarlett’s star may be near Grauman’s Chinese Theater but it’s actually in front of Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum … so I’m not sure what really says about her ;) In any event, while I feel that there are many other celebrities more deserving of a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, I totally understand why Scarlett received the honor this week. The stars are handed out around the time that celebs are promoting big films. The Avengers will be one of the biggest films of the year so, the timing was right. In any event, let’s send our love and congrats to Scarlett on this latest accomplishment.

im sorry, but i cant take this seriously. this has to be a joke.
if they wanted to give a star out to someone from The Avengers movie, im sure theres someone more deserving.

    • helen

@nicole – yeah, this is just wrong.

  • helen

I’ve never really been a big fan of hers… Maybe it’s cause her characters are always really slutty and the ones that aren’t are never believable… It sometimes strikes me as if she wasn’t really that good of an actress and the slutty parts come out right just cause she’s not doing much of an acting job IF you know what I mean…

Then again I could be really wrong…

Walk of Fame ? Scarlett Johansson ? What for ?

    • @Isabelle — I’m surprised that people are always so shocked when they learn that X got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. People, the WoF is merely a promo tool. Celebs who have things to promote — and the timing is right — get stars. It’s as simple as that.

    • Isabelle

Ok, Trent. But then it has no purpose at all except promotion. It was not the case back then. Back back then.

    • Krissy

Isabelle, it has always been a promo tool. It is easy to look back on the older stars and think that things were more pure back then, but that was just because studios were much better at message control. It has always been a devious industry! “Hollywood” as a city benefits when new celebs get stars…far too many tourists look at the names on the Walk of Fame and say “who are these people?”.

Personally, I think Scarlette has a long career of doing respectable movies. This wouldn’t be shocking to me, even if it was merit based.

    • @Mariah — Because

  • Johnny

Te stars are just another promo tool, it is not about who deserve one but which studio will pay the fee for one star depending on the movies to be released … it’s just a dirty sidewalk in Hollywood not a gold pavement to heaven people!

  • Ian

that’s such a bs congratulatory post. she’s been in some amazing movies. Lost in Translation, Vicky Christina Barcelona, The Avengers, The Prestige, Match Poin, A Love Song for Bobby Long. She totally deserves it, promotional tool or not

  • yadira

Robert downey jr should have a star too

  • Mr. Gyllenhaal

I love her so I am very happy she has a star…Promotional or not. She is a great actress and has been in some good movies. Get it gurl…
