Watch: John Mayer Debuts Video For ‘Shadow Days’

John Mayer Goes On A Road Trip

A few weeks ago we heard that John Mayer was forced to put his career on hiatus because of his health; his throat granuloma had returned. Just prior to hearing that sad news, we heard a sneak peek of his single, Shadow Days, the last single off his new album, Born and Raised. Despite the fact that he has had to postpone performing indefinitely, his album, which was due out in May, is still on schedule, and today we have a first look at the music video for Shadow Days.

It has been so awful hearing that John is battling ill health, and of course it is sad that he isn’t able to sing or perform for the moment, but it is wonderful that we still get to hear his new music, which he has been working on for a few months. I like Shadow Days, it definitely has a distinctive John Mayer sound to it with soothing vocals, guitar and drums. It is also a bit less poppy and has a slightly more rock or even folksy feel to it, in my opinion. The video is channeling a young Neil Diamond or Johnny Depp, and I’m loving the western/road trip across the country theme.

Check out the video here, and see what you think.. It’s obviously so sad that John is unwell, but we can console ourselves knowing that his new album is out soon, and he is already working on writing his new material while he gets treatment. I hope he is getting better and recovering- lets send our love out to John as he undergoes treatment for his throat. In the mean time, enjoy his new video.

He tries something new with each album and that’s why he’s such an incredible artist. I love hearing new music from John Mayer, and I cannot wait to get my copy of “Born and Raised.” 5/22 is a date I’ve been waiting for for a very long time :)
