Maggie Gyllenhaal Gives Birth To Her Second Daughter

Congratulations and love are in order for Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard because today we learn that two weeks ago, they welcomed the birth of their second child. Maggie gave birth to a baby girl they couple have named Gloria Ray on April 19. As you may know, Maggie and Peter already have a daughter named Ramona so now they have two adorable daughters. I’m sure uncle Jake Gyllenhaal is over the moon. Click below to read more deets about the birth of Gloria Ray.

It’s another girl for Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard. The couple welcomed daughter Gloria Ray on Thursday, April 19 in New York City, her rep confirms to PEOPLE. The new addition joins daughter Ramona, 5. The actors, who wed in Italy in 2009, announced the pregnancy in November and the sex of the baby in March. “I find it difficult to pretend you’re not pregnant, which I had to do,” Gyllenhaal, 34, said recently. “I didn’t let anyone know until three and a half months this time.” Next up for the actress is Won’t Back Down, while Sarsgaard, 41, will appear in Lovelace.

HMMM … well, I guess this report is light on the details but still … isn’t this happy news? I know everyone is freaking out over the birth fo Jessica Simpson’s baby (which should come any year now) so it’s easy to see how Maggie and Peter managed to keep the birth of their baby a secret for two weeks. The couple tend to be very private so it may be some time before we get our first look at Gloria Ray. Considering how cute Ramona is, I’m certain Gloria is a doll. Again, let’s send our love to the newly expanded Gyllenhaal-Sarsgaard fam :)

I know, right? They should have gone with something more normal, like Apple, or Bronx Mowgli, or Zuma Nesta Rock, or Satchel.

  • Annie

I think it’s an adorable name! I love this little family :)

  • Paula

oh gaaawd, not very into the name, little girls are fabulous, beautiful and unique all on their own, they don’t have to be called Alannah Startwinkle to stand out, what are people like! I would die if I had to go through life called Apple, there is no private school posh enough to eradicate the kind of abuse you would recieve…….
