Christian Louboutin To Design Cinderella’s Glass Slippers For DVD Re-Release

Fairytale Footwear

There isn’t a more perfect shoe designer to work on the world’s most iconic shoes, Cinderella’s glass slippers, than Christian Louboutin. The man behind those famous red soles has been commissioned by Disney to put his magic touch on the crystal pumps for the classic cartoon’s DVD re-release this summer. I’m imagining stilettos, maybe a platform and of course some rosy red peeking through underneath! Could there be any more adorable a combination than Disney and Louboutin?

The whole story of Cinderella hinges on the glass slippers. I would say they might just be one of the world’s most iconic, and well known, pair of shoes. They are the symbol of one of Disney’s most classic stories, and the shoes themselves are also a symbol of destiny, love and that lusted after happily-ever-after.

The magical heels will formally be revealed this summer when the DVD of the Disney classic is re-released. I think that Disney has done a very clever thing collaborating with Louboutin. It is also clearly a very good move for Louboutin’s marketing. Teaming up with the world’s ultimate shoe designer takes the Cinderella re-launch and puts it up there in the realm of high end fashion and the most lusted after accessories. Louboutin now also has the opportunity to recreate the world’s most magical shoes. This is PR heaven!

“I have been so lucky to have crossed paths with Cinderella, an icon who is so emblematic to the shoe world as well as the dream world,” Louboutin said.

I am sure that Louboutin will follow the Disney launch with his own “Cinderella collection.” I am so intrigued to see what he will come up with to make wearable shoes look like they are made of glass! OMG, the whole thing is too much, I’m getting way too excited. Which woman won’t want a pair of Christian Louboutin glass slippers inspired by the ultimate fairytale princess!? I’m quietly dying over here.
