Last week, Nicki Minaj deleted her Twitter account. This week, she explains why. Appearing on The Graham Norton Show tonight, she will be asked why she decided to quit Twitter and abandon her 11 million followers. According to Nicki, she only did so because a voice inside her head told her to. Considering the way she likes to dress, I suspect that Nicki pays a lot of attention to the voices inside her head. HMMM.
Yesterday, [Nicki Minaj] was whisked from The W Hotel in Leicester Square to the BBC studios for the pre-recorded interview with the Irish funnyman which will air on the Beeb [tonight]. Graham quizzed her over why she’s deleted her Twitter account, leaving millions of fans distraught. Nicki, real name Onika, Maraj, said: ‘A voice in my head told me to delete my Twitter and that’s what I did. I had 11 million followers and I hope they will wait for me. ‘I reply all the time and get to know them by name and I have a really personal bond with them… not all 11 million, but at least 10 of them a day.’ Asked if she will go return to the social networking site, she said: ‘I don’t know yet, I’m thinking about it. I miss my Barbz (her name for her fans), please bear with me.’
LOL. Folks, we all know she will be back on Twitter. It’s silly to think otherwise. Clearly, she got fed up with some of her fans, she decided to throw a little tantrum, will spend some time basking in the attention she’s getting from her antics and will, eventually, return. I suppose her excuse that “a voice inside her head” told her to delete her Twitter account is as good an excuse as any. Nicki very smartly knows how to get attention … with her dress, most especially … but with her music and her behavior as well. It’s all part of the act of playing a popstar. If she didn’t dress in an outlandish way and if she didn’t do silly things like “quit Twitter” we wouldn’t have much to talk about. Honestly, I don’t blame her. She is working it. Don’t lose faith, Barbz … Nicki will be back on Twitter in no time.
