Back in February we got to see the first look at Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Ball tour when she tweeted a sneak peek of the set. Now we have sketches of her Giorgio Armani designed costumes. The world tour commences April 27th in Seoul, Korea. Check out the fashions you can expect to see from Ms Outrageous herself.
As to be expected, Lady Gaga’s custom Armani wardrobe includes items such as gloves with mirrored nails, a black bodice with transparent Plexiglas, black crystals and studs in an abstract composition of guitars, and plenty of fringe, Swarovski, spikes and latex! Phew! Evidently, Giorgio Armani really enjoyed working with Lady Gaga on her costumes, and has been able to really embody the pop star in the clothes she will wear on stage in her upcoming tour.
“Collaborating with Lady Gaga is always an exciting experience for me,” said Armani, who has dressed the singer on numerous occasions, including the Grammy awards in 2010. “I admire the way she uses fashion as a scenic element and as a means to build a character. She is an artist of many talents and great intelligence.”
Here are some of the Armani sketches of costumes she will wear on tour..
WOW! Talk about outrageous. What about that 4th costume with what looks like a crystal encrusted horn protruding from a mask? That must be so heavy and uncomfortable to wear. But beauty before pain, right? We couldn’t expect anything less than full throttle outrageousness when it comes to Gaga’s fashions, but this does seem adequately Lady Gaga. And, these are just the sketches. In real life, I am sure they are even more out there.
The pop star who polarizes fans is going to be putting on a whopping 110 performances around the world, starting at the end of this month. Even for non-Gaga fans, I think most people can agree that this show is going to be epic. People that have seen Gaga live all say that she is a born performer. Lady Gaga doesn’t do things in halves, so you are guaranteed a massive show if nothing else. She has called the tour a ‘ball’ implying that it will be full of melodrama and fancy, and these costumes sure imply that. She has also said that she expects her audience to be “dressed for the ball.” Does this mean everyone will be wearing Armani designed latex and studs? What do you think of these couture costumes? Are they suitably Gaga?
