Hologram Michael Jackson May Be Going On Tour

Here We Go

Yesterday we learned that plans are reportedly in the works for Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre to take Hologram Tupac Shakur, who made his worldwide debut at the Coachella Music and Arts Festival last Sunday night, on tour with them in stadiums around the world. Today we learn that Hologram Michael Jackson might be going on tour, too. The Jackson Brothers are heading out on tour this year and they are now saying that it is possible that Hologram Michael may join them on stage. OY! This is how it begins, y’all. The end of human civilization. Read on for all the scary deets.

If the late Tupac Shakur could put on a show, so could Michael Jackson. Yes, a hologram of the King of Pop may be going on tour. The late music legend’s brothers Jermaine, Jackie, Tito and Marlon just announced that they are joining together for Unity Tour 2012, a 27-city jaunt that kicks off June 18 in Louisville. It marks the first time they’ve toured together since the Victory Tour in 1984. “I just wish Michael was here with us, but I’m sure his spirit will be in the house,” Jackie exclusively told me this morning. And he may be with them afterall. Jackie said a Michael hologram could very well be part of a bigger tour they’re planning for next year after they release a new album with their recently reunited record label Motown. “It could have Michael—absolutely,” he said. “Wouldn’t that be wonderful? As a matter of fact, we had that idea two years ago for Michael’s Cirque du Soleil show.” The brothers are still working on the set list for Unity. “There are so many songs,” Jackie said. “That’s the hardest part because we want to include all the favorites and not leave anything out. We’re going to sing some of Michael’s stuff, too. We’re going to honor him on the stage. He’d want us to do our thing to the best of our ability.”

OMG. This is SO how it will begin. First Tupac, then MJ … then Elvis, Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin … a host of dead musicians will be summoned from the grave to perform NEW concerts in projected “hologram” form for the living. I have no doubt that the Jackson Brothers would LOVE to ride on MJ‘s coattails again in any way possible. That said, they do not have the rights to use his likeness, music or recorded voice in this way. Any plan to “revive” the late Michael Jackson will have to be approved by his estate … but it’s possible they could come to an understanding. My guess is that the Jacksons may be allowed to get Hologram Michael Jackson to perform a song or two with them on tour. I can’t tell if that notion is fantastic or ghastly. What do you think? Would YOU pay to see Hologram MJ on stage? If so, do you fear that this will open the floodgates for other dead musicians to go on tour?

I knew MJ would be next. I just knew it! Ugh lol.

Those floodgates are open and there’s no going back now. I feel the Tupac hologram was such a sensation because we just haven’t been exposed much to this form entertainment. I think it will play out fairly quickly. What made Tupac’s appearance unique is that it wasn’t footage from any previous performance but it was spliced together resulting in a brand new experience. I hope audiences tire and grow bored with this quickly and be like, “Yawn…another hologram?”

This is exactly why I’m creeped out by the Tupac thing. I love Pac, and sure wish he wasn’t dead, but this is fucking weird, and will definitely open the floodgates for everyone trying to make a buck off of dead artists. Ridiculous!

This is just too weird. The first time I saw this done was with Elvis. They had a hologram of him and Celine Dion was singing with it. Did NOT like it.

  6. Tony

This reminds me of that movie from 2002 “S1m0ne” with AL Pacino. Have you seen it, Trent? Pretty good movie I think.

This whole thing of bringing back dead people via hologram is beyond creepy, ridiculous and delusional. The whole deal of watching an artist performing live is that he is alive and in person.

I didn’t mind the Tupac one because you knew that Snoop and Dre were doing it for the fans, not the money. Tupac has also been gone for over 15 years and there is a whole generation who never got to experience him. Michael hasn’t been gone that long and you know the family just wants the money.

I think there’s so many things about this “hologram” that’s wrong.
First of all, I wish people would stop using the word “hologram” because this whole thing is simply a projection projected on a semi-transparent screen and not a real hologram!
Why would I want to pay $80 or more just to go and see a 3D animation of a dead person projected on a screen?
I’m sorry, but that just sounds stupid.
I would rather spend that money buying a live dvd of the REAL Michael Jackson, or simply watching a good movie.

I sure do and it’s freaky!

It’s an excellent idea!..I dont find it creepy at all..I love the jacksons…and I was too young to ever be able to attend an MJ concert…this great I am 16 and My lil brother is 2 and he loves MJ..this is the closest he would ever be to the real thing
