Last week we heard that Britney Spears signed her deal to judge The X Factor and that official confirmation was forthcoming. Well, here we are a week later and still … nada. Simon Cowell called in to TMZ to reveal that he really, really wants Britney to join the show … suggesting that a deal STILL has not been struck. Sigh. That said, Cowell sounded confident that Britney would be joining the show and revealed that he will know for sure if she is in or out within the week. HMMM. Click below to hear from Simon himself this latest update on the Britney/X Factor front.

Simon Cowell has finally admitted … he’s GUNNING HARD to get Britney Spears as a judge on the next season of “X Factor.” Cowell just called in to “TMZ Live” … and told us, “I would love to have her on the show … I think she would be a fascinating person to sit next to.” Simon said he couldn’t reveal too much about the negotiations … but did seem optimistic and hinted that he would have an answer from Britney’s camp within the week.
Blah. For the sake of my sanity, this deal better happen. There’s been so much talk about Britney on The X Factor that despite my best efforts not to get excited … I’m freakin’ excited. It pains me to hear Simon say, “Who knows we may surprise you and it may not be her” because then I’d have to go apeshizz. We should know soon … for sure … one way or the other … and til then … we wait. Still. Ack.

PLEASE let this happen! Britney is the perfect person to be a part of the XFactor. She has that XFactor that they look for, so she should be great at spotting and molding it in someone else. It’s too perfect. Make it happen, Simon!
Never watched an episode of XFactor BUT will be glued to my TV if this happens!! Fingers crossed ;)
I’m not so optimistic. I think it is going to be a disaster, I don’t think Brit Brit is completely healed. Eh!I hope I’m wrong.
Obviously the reason it’s taking so long is because of Britney’s demands. It’s not just about money. They’re probably telling Simon he can’t tease her, he can’t disagree with her, etc. The whole thing will be a joke.
@Donny — Obviously, eh? Nah. It’s about the money and the terms of the deal.
Stunt casting at it’s worse. Sucky show? Solution, buy a big named star to sit up on the stage so her fans will tune in to fawn over her and fluff the ratings. Who cares if she has not been deemed stable enough by her own people to do a live interview, on american television or perform. Lets put her on stage and let the media rip her apart!
She’s too nice and lets be real, Britney was a great performer but she owes everything to max martin/Wade Robeson/ jamie king/ johnny wright and larry rudolph. I’m not sure what she can do for those contestants other than say “That was goo ya’ll!” I don’t think she’s ready for this type of scrutiny.
@cutitout – I couldn’t agree with you more. I do admit that I have never watched the show and certainly will tune in for dear Britney, but I do not expect anything too insightful or constructive from her at all. While I would LOVE to see her excel at this, my expectations are low… She can’t seem to do anything these days that’s not highly controlled/planned/or scripted, and I’m not quite sure she’ll be able to handle the spotlight every week or the insults and banter from Simon… I can’t imagine her having much more to say than “great job, y’all, that was really cool”. Unless she wears an earpiece and is fed info/blurbs from her team – Larry/Jason/etc… I mean, she doesn’t even say anything in concert more than “Hiya ____ city” “how ya’ll doing”, and “Thanks for comin’, I love ya’ll!!”… We’ll see, maybe she’ll surprise us, but I’m not holding my breath…
