Scarlett Johansson graces the cover of Vogue’s May issue and gracing it she does. She channels old school Hollywood glamor to perfection. Dressed immaculately in a blush silk draped dress with perfect hair and makeup, Scarlett looks like she could have stepped right out of 1920. The image of perfection is challenged, or more accurately rethought, in the cover story though where Scarlett reveals the hardship she endured during and after her divorce from ex hubby, Ryan Reynolds. She called it “devastating”, but is now stronger and happier than ever, and doesn’t regret the marriage at all. Check out her gorgeous photo shoot for Vogue.
She does look incredible, doesn’t she? I love this classic look on Scarlett, she carries it off with so much grace and style. Scarlett is made for Vogue and this genre of a photo shoot. What a classic beauty!
In Vogue’s story, Scarlett opens up about her divorce from Ryan Reynolds in 2011. She clearly highlights the impact the breakup had on her, describing it as “devastating” and “horrible,” but the remarkably mature 27 year old also doesn’t regret the marriage at all.
“It was horrible. Of course it’s horrible. It was devastating. It really throws you. You think that your life is going to be one way, and then, for various reasons or whatever, it doesn’t work out. This was something I never thought I would be doing. And there’s no way to navigate it. Nobody can give you the right answer. It’s never anything you want to hear. It’s a very lonely thing. It’s like the loneliest thing you’ll ever do, in some way.”
But, she also says that:
“It was a beautiful thing … The falling in love and getting married and making that commitment … I think it’s nice to know that you’re capable of loving somebody in that way. I think it’s a rare opportunity.”
I loved reading this interview because we get to see the brave and beautiful Scarlett again, and she really is just so insightful and in tune with her emotions and needs for someone her age. I also just love the photo shoot Vogue has put together. It has an exuberance and old worldliness that is just delightful. My favorite pic is the one of Scarlett dancing with the man on the grand piano, could she be any more beautiful?
