The members of Green Day have announced that they are readying the release of new music. But, unlike most bands, Green Day is not interested in releasing just one album … they’re not even interested in releasing a double album … they’re going for a trilogy of albums. Beginning this Fall, Green Day will release 3 albums titled ¡UNO!, ¡DOS!, AND ¡TRÉ!. Click below for more deets and watch video of the members of Green Day announcing the release of this trilogy of albums.
Green Day is currently in the studio recording three albums – a trilogy entitled ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré! – that will be released by Reprise Records on Tuesday, September 25th 2012; Tuesday, November 13th 2012 and Tuesday, January 15th 2013 respectively. The albums are the follow-up to the Grammy®Award-winning 21st Century Breakdown, and are being produced by the band’s long-time producer Rob Cavallo. ¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré! are being recorded in their hometown of Oakland, CA. “We are at the most prolific and creative time in our lives. This is the best music we’ve ever written, and the songs just keep coming,” said the members of Green Day. “Instead of making one album, we are making a three album trilogy. Every song has the power and energy that represents Green Day on all emotional levels. We just can’t help ourselves… We are going epic as fuck!”
Once a small punk band, Green Day is now in the business of making epic waves in music. Their recent albums have been themed opuses … American Idiot was so much an opus that it got turned into a Broadway musical. News of this trilogy of albums is unsurprising but, honestly, I’m not sure it’ll be something I’ll be clamoring to get my hands on. I love Green Day‘s early albums Kerplunk, Dookie and Insomniac. Everything since has been kinda … meh. Still, I’ll keep an open mind. I’d love to be a Green Day fan again … that is, if they can win me back ;)
