Britney Spears Reportedly Signs On To Judge ‘The X Factor’ For $15 Million Dollars

Yes! YES! YESSSSSS!!! The news that so many faithful Britney Spears fans have been waiting for is here!!! Early last month we first heard that Simon Cowell was hoping to sign Britney Spears to judge the upcoming new season of The X Factor. Today we learn from E! News that Britney Spears has reportedly signed a $15 million dollar deal to judge the upcoming second season of The X Factor!!! As you may recall, our dear Britney teased yesterday that she had a big announcement to make today. Britney has still NOT made the news official herself but the word is out … she has signed on to judge The X Factor, y’all!!!!

Britney Spears and Simon Cowell are about to become TV’s next power couple. The pop princess is thisclose to signing a big-bucks deal to become a judge on X Factor, multiple sources have exclusively confirmed to E! News. After weeks of heavy negotiating, Britney’s team has finally agreed to a $15 million fee for the role. “Both camps were back and forth on the money but now they have finally come to agreement on the fee,” says one insider with intimate knowledge of the pending deal. “That was the big sticking point and now, thankfully, it’s been sorted. All they need to do now is work out the smaller points. The fact the money is now set, means that there is nothing stopping this from becoming a reality.” And this will be a package deal: coming along for the ride with Britney is fiancé Jason Trawick. A second source reveals that her soon-to-be husband, will become a producer on the show. “Jason is expected to be there every day Britney is on set. He is her rock and will help guide her through the process. He is the person she trusts the most,” the second source tells us. The deal will make Spears the highest paid judge on reality television, eclipsing Jennifer Lopez’s $12 million deal for American Idol. Barring any last-minute snafus, Spears will fill one of two X Factor judging vacancies after Cowell fired Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger at the close of the show’s first season. A rep for the X Factor would neither confirm nor deny whether Spears was even being considered. A Fox rep had no comment. However a production insider tells E! News that “this is an exciting time for [Britney]. It’ll be a fun project and she is welcoming the chance to mentor up-and-coming artists. She loves the idea of helping emerging talent get the recognition they deserve and is really looking forward to being on the show. She gets on very well with Simon. He has worked hard at persuading her to start this new chapter in her career. She is an icon, and the perfect example of what having the X Factor means. She’s really looking forward to the project and being able to connect with her fans.”

Again, keep in mind, we are still waiting for official confirmation … but the news should be out soon. As I understand it, Britney will start her work with The X Factor in mid-May and, thus far, a second judge hasn’t been chosen yet. I cannot with this … I am BEYOND EXCITED by this news!! I honestly did not want to get my hopes up about this … I just didn’t want to get all excited in case the deal fell thru. But I have to admit, I was very encouraged by the report we heard a few weeks ago that she was nearing this $15 million dollar deal. This is HUGE HUGE HUGE! We get to see Britney on TV every week!!!!! X Factor, I love you! You have gained a very loyal and faithful fan in me and I’m sure LEGIONS of other people by securing Britney Spears to judge your show. This is just really fantastic news … I am DYING of excitement and anticipation! GAAAAHHHHH!

  • Mark

So excited, this news made my week!! Can’t wait to watch Britney on XFactor :)

  • AmandaMarie

Yes! Seems to be the only phrase I can say. I am so happy about this! Yes! Yes! Yes!

  • cupcakes in my pocket

yeah. i’m DEFINITELY gonna be watching this year!!!

  • kendra

Ahhh man! Between this and Howard on America’s Got Talent, I’m going to be watching these crap shows for the first time..Ick..I think I’ll just mute it until Britney and Howard speak.. ;)

  • Michelle

I’ve never watched an episode of XFactor, but I will now :)

    • @Michelle — Same here :)

  • Andy

Man, this is such a double edged sword. On the one hand, as a big Britney fan, I can’t help to be excited to see her week after week, albeit with a team of professional stylists behind her and- hopefully- a refresher course on live public speaking. But then again… I don’t know if she’s ready. I honestly hope she is.

A big part of me wanted her to take this time off to be with her family, travel around the world and actually live her life, and THEN come back once the performing bug has truly started to itch, but this job could very well be what she needs to boost up her confidence and loosen up again. It’d be so fantastic to see the sparkle again.

One thing I’m sure of is the fact that I haven’t been this excited/nervous over The X Factor since Cheryl Cole was offered the gig.

    • Megan

I’m with you on this. I LOVE her but I’m worried she’s not up for it.

    • Dezden

Agreed! I am excited but also nervous about it… I am just hoping everything goes well! :)

Living Legend: Judging you this fall.

  • ClaireMichelle

I can’t even handle the excitement!!! I will definitely be tuning in every week now! Let’s just hope she doesn’t get stuck with the group category like Paula did last year since they always get sent home first! Ahhhhh! I AM SO EXCITED!

  • linh

i am so giddy with excitement. can’t wait. won’t miss a single episode. gaaaaaaaaaaahhhh.

  • nicole

i think im the only person who thinks this might be a horrible idea.
i cant see her being any kind of mean to anyone. and on top of that, her media skills havent been very good the past few years. hopefully she took some kind of class or got some help for her public speaking.
i dunno i hope for the best for her, but it might not turn out as great as everyone thinks.

I’m actually mad! I was refusing to watch this show and now I have to! Lol. I really hope Britney can get back to being normal in front of a camera though. Man it will be so awesome to get to see her every week! This could be great for her career.

Its all about rebuilding her public image and her name back into the general public, not just the Brit fans.

Look at this: Femme Fatale was 1000x better than Circus yet that managed to sell quite well. As did the Circus tour which we can agree wasn’t her best in Brit quality. FF album was on par with Blackout and the tour she seemed more interested, even singing. Yet, both the album and tour did considerably worse than Circus. Although she got 3 Top 10 successful singles, she became that ‘single’ artist and she didn’t even crack Europe/UK as great as she used to. It saddens me to say but someone like Gaga, Ri, Katy have become more relevant :-(

So, XFactor is doing what JLO has done. Rebuilt that image and name to the general public. Sure JLO really only had On The Floor, I’m quite sure Brit’s rebuilt image would secure album sales. And Xtina is doing the same – I think she is truthful when spending more time on an album than rushing it, but I also think her label knew The Voice would be bigger second season and are awaiting that BIG finale to then move onto Xtina releasing new music or transitioning back her music image instead if TV. Could be wrong, but it would make a lot of sense. She a bit of Adult radio behind her after Moves like jagger though.

Brit is gonna do the same. Whether it will be one or two seasons remains to be seen. But she needs to get back into the lives of the general people who used to be interested and buy her music. The breakdown has unfort. Stuck with most people. I know here in Aus when someone mentions pop stars they always say Bald Brit as if she is still hitting cars with umbrellas. She used to be so successful in the Aus charts and the UK. The good thing is, this will help globally not just in the US.

I’m lookin forward to this – brit slaying new stylish outfits. I hope she actually is ready and has that confidence and ignores the press, cause she is going to, as usual, receive a lot of flak after the premiere for any reason. I’m also glad this means she is on more than JLO, I’m sure that diva has already smashed a few unlucky dressing room mirrors.

  • Amanda M

STOKED!!! I will actually watch the show now. Ratings will boooooost :)

  • Daniel Gonzales

I don’t know why people like BS, she isn’t an icon or a living legend, she’s a Disney clone who was media manipulated into the mainstream. She has no talent, she is a vacant airhead with no soul. 15 million dollars. What a joke. Give it to the homeless, not to this blonde bitch.

    • jj

britney is an icon and a princess of pop and soon will be a legend! since MMC britney showed her dancing, singing and acting skills! STAY MAD! you better complain to all actresses and actors in the movies who cannot even act but they got a lot of money!

    • Sandy

      LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE!!!! *cue tears*

  • Meg

THIS is the only reason I will tune into the X Factor again. I had written it off after only watching half of last years episodes but if Brit is going to be gracing a chair, then I will be there!

  • Donny

@Nicole – you’re not the only who thinks it’s a horrible idea. It IS a horrible idea. It’s not going to be good. She’ll be just as medicated as Paula and not nearly as knowledgeable.

Simon has proven with X-Factor that he’s not the hit-making machine people thought. He doesn’t give a shit about Britney. He cares solely about rating… and money, of course.

Then there’s Jason as a producer. Hopefully he is there to protect her rather than simple greed. But who really knows? I’m starting to think he may be nearly as dim as she is upstairs.

She’s going to be compared to Jennifer Lopez (who takes notes on every performance and has shown herself to be an excellent judge on Idol) and Christina Aguilera (who is an amazing singer and her ear for talent is pretty sharp). I just don’t see her living up to their standards.

As I type, to my right is the photo of Trent meeting Britney. She looks like she’s not even there and yes I’m guessing she’s about to go onstage to “entertain” thousands. Sad!

    • shark317

Christina actually takes notes as well. She had to consult her notes about performances recently on the Voice. She has also shown herself to be the only judge on the show that is willing to be a bit “mean” when necessary.

I’ve never found Britney engaging while off-stage. Her interviews have never been great and this was before all of her issues in the past few years. It will be great for ratings, but I’m not sure Britney is a good fit in terms of helping contestants. I just feel like this is going to be like the VMAs debacle all over again. A network gets a ratings spike and Britney looks like a drugged out mess. But then again, people in these situations prove nay-sayers wrong all the time so…

  • gayana

Blaaaaaaaaah…………. She’s not gona be good. Not professional.

  • Lyle

    She’s so bland…

  • Alex

I love Britney and I’m very excited about this, but as some people said, I’m not sure this is a great idea. Britney can’t be mean, and let’s face it, she’s not exactly knowledgeable about music. I just CAN’T picture her saying anything other than “That was really cool, I like it [giggles]” with her soft voice and shy face. Oh God, I just know she won’t be able to put two sentences together. May the force be with her! lol.
