My First 5K

Welp … I did it! Early this morning, I met my friend Ollie on the Hollywood Walk of Fame to run the 5K portion of the Hollywood Half Marathon. As you may know, I started training in March for my first half marathon in September and decided to run this 5K race to push my training along. Even tho I’ve been running 3-4 miles, I was a bit worried about my first race (I even said a little prayer before the race to the Holy Spearit at Britney Spears’s star on the Walk of Fame for strength and guidance). I wanted to make sure that I ran the whole race and I wanted to finish with a decent time. I am VERY happy and extremely proud to let you know that I was successful on both fronts. Click below to see some photos from my FIRST 5K today.

Ollie is a great running buddy … she kept me on pace and at the end, forced me to run my ass off and sprint over the finish line. We completed the 5K in 25 mins. (tho I’m still waiting for my official time to be posted). I felt great … no soreness, no aches … no worries once I got going. I know it’s only a 5K but I’ve never participated in an event like this before. I am really happy and proud of my fun medal :) I can see why people love to run races … they are really fun. I think I’ll try another 5K and then a 10K in the next few months … before I tackle the Disneyland Half Marathon in September. I have to send out lots of love to all of YOU guys for your encouragement, well wishes and positive comments. Trust me, I hear you all … it means a lot. Extra special love goes out to David for being our support/cheering section this morning. David took all of these photos and was there to send us off at the starting line and was there to congratulate us at the finish line.

I did it! Woot!!!

I can’t wait to do it again :)

Now … I’m off to yoga class. No kidding. I’m trying to work on my flexibility (to help with running) so off to yoga I go :) Happy Saturday!

daaaawwwww….so happy for you because I know you feel like a million bucks. I love those types of events! Especially the ones that have pizza and beer at the finish line. Not that I ever partake, mind you, but just the festive fair atmosphere is great. I love the early morning starts. The air is so fresh and clean and while everyone else just groggily getting their butts out of bed, you’ve just ran a damn race! The Disney half is going to be awesome!! David is so devoted. I love that about you guys.

Great job Trent!! I’m really proud of you considering I’ve been reading this blog for the last 5-6 years and I know you were never very active at all. Goes to show we can do anything we put our minds to! Very inspiring!!
