Amanda Bynes Busted!

Back in June of 2010, actress Amanda Bynes decided to retire from acting at the tender age of 24. Some folks have been wondering what Amanda has been up to since that fateful day when she decided to deny the world access to her acting prowess. Except for sharing a few photos on Twitter, Amanda has stayed pretty much out of the spotlight. On any given weekend, you could find Ms. Bynes at a Hollywood party or at a concert with her friends … or partying it up at one of Hollywood’s hot spots. Last night, Amanda was allegedly partying so much that she made the dangerous decision to drive home while impaired. Along the way, she hit a police car and was arrested for driving under the influence. Amanda Bynes got busted, y’all.

Amanda Bynes was arrested for DUI in West Hollywood early this morning … TMZ has learned. Law enforcement sources tell us Bynes was attempting to pass a cop car … when she sideswiped the vehicle. She was pulled over and cops determined she was not fit to be behind the wheel. We’re told the 26-year-old actress was busted at 3 AM … she’s still behind bars. According to her booking sheet, Bynes is 5’7″ and 125 lbs. Her bail has been set at $5,000. Bynes has been frequenting the Hollywood party scene recently, frequenting several clubs over the last few weeks. Just last month — on St. Patrick’s Day — TMZ cameras saw Bynes leaving Greystone Manor, and thought she appeared to be extremely intoxicated. One of our cameramen even warned the valet not to let Amanda drive, but she got into the driver’s seat anyway … and took off

A week before that, Amanda bolted from a cop while he was writing her a ticket. She was pulled over for talking on a cell phone, and while the cop was writing her up … she drove away. Amanda later swung by the police station and signed the ticket. So far, she hasn’t faced additional charges stemming from that incident.

Yikes! In the past few years, I’ve run into Amanda Bynes at parties or at concerts and I can confirm that, most times, she appeared to be having a good time with her friends (her all-girl posse that David and I call the Bynettes). It’s really unfortunate that Amanda has, apparently, been tempting fate by getting behind the wheel of her care while allegedly under the influence of alcohol … or whatever. It sounds like Amanda was going to keep doing this sort of irresponsible thing until she either hurt herself or someone else … thankfully, it sounds like the only thing hurt this time was the police car she clipped. Now that Lindsay Lohan is walking the straight and narrow, is it possible that Amanda Bynes might become Hollywood’s new trainwreck? I certainly hope not … but, getting arrested with her first DUI has put her on that path. Sad.

It boggles my mind. When I go out, either me or my boyfriend stays sober, or we have a friend lined up, or if nothing else, a taxi. It is not hard to not *have* to drive home intoxicated to any degree for ‘normal folk’ so I don’t get how these celebrities, even d list, with more connections and money cannot seem to avoid it. Stupid!

    • Jstar

I agree, I always wonder why celebrities continue to drive themselves when they can afford a driver!!

  • apriljan

Lost respect for her. Driving under the influence is inexcusable.

That valet attendant should be fired. Yes Amanda is an idiot for this, but the paparazzi (who wow showed concern) is yelling at the guy not to let her drive, and he totally ignores him. I bet Amanda wished he hadnt. I guess I’ll turn off Sydney White since I now lost all respect for one of the ones I liked.

Except the valet attendant could have been fired for not giving her the keys as well. When does it stop being the her responsibility and start being the valet attendant?

    • Jesse

Never said it wasnt her responsibility, but for the good of all the people on the road that night that valet attendant should have taken a moment and thought about the countless people who have lost their lives at the hands of idiots like that and what he could have done to prevent something like that.

  • completely ridiculous to get behind the wheel when drunk. I always assume that if someone gets caught, they’ve done it before. Shameful to put other peoples lives in danger. I hope she gets some help.

I agree it’s her responsibility, as well as that of the valet and the club. She should have handed over her keys, and the club should have a policy on not allowing drunk driving. Although I think drunk driving is inexcuseable, I also agree with Jstar and have wondered before about celebs who can afford drivers. Why don’t they just hire someone or call a cab?

  • AmandaMarie

Actually the valet couldn’t be fired under those circumstances. It is actually more likely that he would have been fired for giving her the keys. Incidences like this draw the liquor control board to inspect the venue and if they find major infractions, can revoke the liquor license. It is Amanda’s responsibility first and foremost but it is also the venues to make sure their clients have a safe experience.

I hope they throw the book at her. I have absolutley no sympathy for anyone who gets busted for DWI. Both my husbands parents were killed by a drunk driver when he was 12. He was thrown through the back window, landed on his head and was in a coma for 2 weeks. He was not expected to live and given last rites. The damage done because of one idiot who thought he was Superman is unimaginable. If you can afford to go out drinking, you can afford a frigging cab.

My condolences, Pumkin. I’ve lost friends to dui accidents.. Worse when they leave young kids behind..

I realize drunk driving is a serious matter and shouldn’t be taken lightly, but does anyone else want to yell ” court adjourned, bring in the dancing lobsters!”

  • Amanda

Won’t deny that I am disappointed by this. Always thought Amanda was one of the more level-headed, know-my-priorities sort of girl (as compared to some of her peers).

I think she’s innocent, this must be another Illuminati conspiracy to hide the truth.
