Hugh Jackman Reveals The First Official Photo As Jean Valjean In ‘Les Misérables’

Last week we got our first look at actor Hugh Jackman in character as Jean Valjean on the set of Les Misérables but those photos were taken from behind and from far away. Today, Hugh is sharing the first official promo photo of his Valjean character on his official Twitter profile. According to Hugh, the ragamuffiny homeless look that Valjean is sporting in this photo is about to change … so click below for a close-up look at his “convict look”.

Very excited about how the first days of filming are going!! Check out my convict look…but its changing soon. / And yes, the convict beard and hair are gone. Got to shave it off last night!

Erm, Hugh looks much better in this photo than he did in the earlier photos. Honestly, I was very impressed with how disheveled and dirty Hugh’s Valjean looks in the photos we saw last week. This close-up shot is, well, very handsome. I can’t say I’m a big fan of Les Mis (saw the show on stage and fell asleep) but I’m quite curious about this new version of the tale. Do y’all think Hugh Jackman will make a good Jean Valjean? Are you excited for this adaptation?

Wait… are those his own ears? Have they always looked like that and I haven’t noticed?

    • Meghan

LOL!! I’ve never noticed his ears before now.

  • Laura E

exactly how/why he was cast as Wolverine.

  • JCZ

I have absolutely no idea what this musical is about.. but Trent did LITERALLY fall asleep, fo reals?! That is HIGHlarious if so – I’d be too embarrassed if someone/fan woke me up and told me to leave or something.

    • JCZ

      *did you

    • @JCZ — In my defense, I was sitting way up in the rafters … the only other show that bored me to sleep was Phantom of the Opera. I saw that show twice in the hopes that I just didn’t get it the first time. Nope, it was just as boring the second time :(

Haha hope the chairs were comfy – I don’t think I could TRY and fall asleep at the cinemas or theatres if I tried, the chairs are way too uncomfortable for my liking!

I can’t imagine seeing Phantom of the Opera once, let alone twice – so understanding here!
