A new report out today is claiming that the judge overseeing Britney Spears’s conservatorship (which has legal control over Britney’s business and person) has OKed the plan to let her sign on as a judge on the forthcoming second season of The X Factor. Additionally, the report claims that Britney will make somewhere in the neighborhood of $15 million dollars for judging one season of The X Factor and that the signed deal will be announced soon. BUT, all of this info comes from Radar Online, a source not really known for their accurate reporting. Still … I do love everything about this latest Britney/X Factor rumor … don’t you?
The judge handling Britney Spears’ consvervatorship wanted to meet with the singer to discuss her accepting a job with Simon Cowell’s X Factor, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting. As previously reported, Spears was in court Thursday with her dad Jamie Spears, and fiancé, Jason Trawick. Brit’s conservators needed to get approval from the court for her to become a judge on the hit talent show. “Britney’s team is almost ready to sign the contract for her to become a judge on X Factor. Before the contract is signed, the lawyers needed to get approval from Judge Reva Goetz, as all business transactions, contracts, etc., need to get formal approval,” a source close to the situation tells RadarOnline.com. “Judge Goetz wanted to talk to Britney in person to make sure this is something that she wanted to do, and that she was capable of doing. The judge was extremely impressed and Britney is very, very excited to become a part of Simon Cowell’s show. The judge signed off on the deal. “Under terms of the contract, Britney will be paid around $15 million a year. She will travel out of state for auditions, as long as it doesn’t interfere with her custodial time with her sons. The boys will be allowed to come to the set whenever Britney wants them there. Her sons are her number one priority. Jason has been heavily involved in the contract talks,” the insider says. A formal announcement about Spears joining the show will be made in the next two weeks.
As with all things, one must consider the source. Radar is notorious for getting these kinds of stories completely wrong … but on the off chance that they do have the skinny on what is going on in the Britney/X Factor negotiations, I would be remiss if I didn’t share this exciting news with all y’all. While I’m not getting my hopes up, I’m deffo leaning toward the belief that Britney will sign on to judge The X Factor. I can see her settling for $15 million and I can see the X Factor folks giving her the option to do less traveling (if she wants) and to pull out of the deal after one year (again, if she wants). I can see this deal being worked out … but, we’re just not there yet. One thing about this report we can be sure about, time is running out … we will know one way or the other if Britney will join The X Factor in a few weeks time. I am SO keeping my fingers and toes crossed for this one :)
