We heard a few weeks back that Scarlett Johansson had been cast in possibly the most famous murder victim role of all time. She has signed on to play the role of actress Janet Leigh who was the original girl in the shower in the Alfred Hitchcock horror classic,Psycho. The new film, Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho, is not a remake of the original, but focuses as the name suggests, on Hitchcock’s decision to make the film. Well today we have news that the second female lead has been cast with newly engaged lady, Jessica Biel.
Now the new film has Scarlett and Jessica and has also secured Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren as Hitchcock and his wife, and James D’Arcy is playing Anthony Perkins, who portrayed serial killer Norman Bates in the original film. Jesswill play the role of Vera Miles, who played Lila Crane in the 1960 classic. Vera was Hitcock’s new “Grace Kelly.” The role was played by Julianne Moore in the 1998 remake of Psycho.
The story going around is that there were several other actresses trying for the role. The film Psycho is one of the most well known classics and with this cast already signed on, it makes sense that other young actresses wanted to get in on it. The screenplay will be written by John J. McLaughlin, who wrote the psychological thriller Black Swan which won Natalie Portman the Oscar so I predict that this film is going to be one of the big ones to watch out for in 2013. It is going to be a big year for Jess, starring in this film, and also opposite Colin Farrell in the Total Recall remake as well as planning her wedding…

NO WAI! It’s not like she got the role because she was third best or something.
It does sort of imply that she beat out some well known and (since it is Jessica Biel after all) probably better actresses for the part.
You’d be surprised at how many actors get big parts in movies simply because they were there before better actors.
Biel has the bitch eyes needed to play Janet Leigh. ScarJo’s eyes are way too soft. It’s all about the arched brows. I approve!
