On Tuesday we learned the sad news that Jennie Garth and Peter Facinelli are divorcing after 11 years of marriage. As soon as the couple’s split was confirmed, reports started to surface that allege the couple’s break-up was caused by infidelity in the marriage (the rumor was that Peter cheated on Jennie). Today we get to read a new joint statement issued by the couple that insist that the infidelity reports are completely false. “There are rumors out there which are completely untrue and hurtful to our family. We just want to make it very clear – there are no third parties involved.”
I think it says a lot that the couple continue to issue these statements jointly. If only Peter issued a denial statement, rumormongers might insist on perpetuating the infidelity reports citing Jennie‘s silence as “proof”. It seems clear to me that this couple is ready to end their marriage for their own personal reasons and … that’s that. It’s very sad that their 11 year marriage has to end but I’m impressed by how well they seem to be handling the split.

Only one relationship I’ve ever had didn’t end in cheating or deceit in some way…and it was THE most painful breakup ever, because there was no anger or animosity. It just didn’t work even though we loved each other. I can’t imagine going through that after a decade of marriage AND three kids. My heart goes out to them and their daughters.
