Keanu Reeves Confirms The Script Is Ready For The New ‘Bill & Ted’ Sequel

Back in September of 2010 we first got confirmation from actor Alex Winter that plans were in the works for a new sequel film to Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey. A month later, Winter was spotted out and about with his Bill & Ted costar Keanu Reeves in an apparent show of support for the forthcoming sequel film. In April of last year, Keanu Reeves went on the record to reveal that the script for the Bill & Ted sequel was being written … and today we learn that the script is COMPLETED! At this point, we still do not know when the film might go into production nor when it is scheduled for release but … now that the film has a script and its lead actors, it should HOPEFULLY go into production soon.

Whoa, dude! It was threatened a while back, and now it seems the script for another sequel to Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure is ready to bring the series back to the big screen. Speaking with The Independent recently, Keanu Reeves touched on the long-in-development Bill & Ted 3and said the second sequel to the 1989 cult classic is about to get off the ground. “Yeah, we have a script,” he said. “We’re trying to put it together. It’s a good script, too.” The story will reportedly focus on the righteous duo as they try to write the infamous song that will save the world, and both Reeves and Alex Winter are slated to reprise their roles. “Script done? Check. -We love it? Check. -Green light? Working on it!,” Winter posted on his Twitter account. The original Bill & Ted was followed up with the slightly-less-awesome Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey in 1991, and apart from some short-lived animated series (and a very short-lived live action show), the franchise has remained dormant the past few decades.

Yes!!! This is GREAT news!! I am really REALLY excited about the prospect of a new sequel film. Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure has a very special place in my heart because it was one of the first movies that I was able to see in theaters by myself. I distinctly remember my best friend Nathan and I driving ourselves to the movies to see Bill & Ted’s. At the time, I thought it was one of the greatest films every created. Even today, I think it’s a pretty entertaining film. Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey was also one of my fave movies at the time so … I’m excited. I really love that Keanu Reeves is up for doing this film … without him, it just wouldn’t happen. This film better happen, damnit … that’s all I have to say. So far, it looks like it’s really gonna happen … and I cannot WAIT.
