Ryan Reynolds, Maya Rudolph And Samuel L. Jackson Have Signed On To Star In An Animated Film About Snails

We have a new animated film to get excited about, Turbo. It wont be out until summer 2013 but I learned today that there are some big name actors behind the voices. Ryan Reynolds has signed on to do the film and will be lead role, along with Michelle Rodriguez, Maya Rudolph, Snoop Dogg and Samuel L. Jackson. The film will be written by the guys that did The Wrestler and Shrek Forever After and it’s all about a little snail who dreams of being the greatest racer in the world. He is a snail with an obsession about all things speedy and so is an outsider in the snail community. After a freak accident he suddenly finds himself vested with the power of incredible speed. Sounds cute and has a great cast who want to get behind it.

DreamWorks Animation Chief Creative Officer Bill Damaschke says, “Ryan Reynolds’ infectious enthusiasm and humor will bring life to the lead role of Turbo and set the tone for this amazing roster of all-star voice talent. This high-octane journey will take audiences on the race of their lives and completely re-define the traditional notion of moving at a snail’s pace!”

I think that this could be one to get excited about. I think Ryan Reynolds comedic voice will be perfect for the role, and the comedy of Maya Rudolph will be a great compliment. They have also secured the big wigs with Samuel L.Jackson which tells me that this must have a good script as it is something the actors wanted to get behind. DreamWorks describes the film as “Turbo is the ultimate underdog who achieves the impossible by refusing to let his limitations get in the way of his dreams.” I just think the idea of a snail who wants to be fast and goes out and gets it, is an adorable making for a film. What do you think?
