On Friday morning Chris Martin and Coldplay appeared on Good Morning America to perform their new single, ‘Charlie Brown’ and discuss their latest album, the one with the strange name, Mylo Xyloto. Chris performed at the Grammy’s with Rihanna, who announced that she believes he might be one of the best musicians she knows, and Coldplay recently walked away with the award for Best British Group at this year’s Brits, but they still don’t believe that they can take that for granted. Check them out yesterday mornin’ on Good Morning America. They might think that the name they gave their latest alum was a mistake, but they sure are a powerhouse band.
I’m a big Coldplay and Chris Martin fan and I’ve been wondering for ages what the meaning is behind the album name, finally yesterday I got some insight. Chris told everyone that there was no meaning behind the title Mylo Xyloto, it was just a cool sounding name, and now they regret giving it that name because no one knows how to say it or what it means.
“It’s just something that we thought looked really good but everywhere we go around the world people pronounce it in the most crazy ways. And we’re beginning to regret it now. We did take a gun and kind of shoot it right at our shoes [by calling it Mylo Xyloto]. It’s just an attempt to… it just feels fresh to us, it’s new. It doesn’t mean anything except that [album's] music. It sort of has a nice appearance to it, with all those ‘o’s. We had it on one of our many lists for about two years and, for all the other titles that were suggested, it kept winning.”
I don’t know, I actually like the name because it is so different. Regardless of the name of their album, in my opinion they are one of the greatest band and Chris Martin has an amazing voice. They are receiving all the accolades they deserve, I was so glad that they walked away from the Brits with the Best Band award. What do you think of the name of their latest album? Has it bothered you not knowing what it means?
