Today kicks off Battle for the Bands — a partnership between Kelly Clarkson, Do Something, VH1′s Save the Music Foundation, and Pink Is The New Blog, where we’re all going to help schools win cash for their music programs. As I told you before, in high school I played saxophone and was a member of marching band, jazz band, and concert band, so I know first-hand the importance of music education in schools. Which is why I’m excited, beginning today, to invite teens to upload videos of themselves and their friends explaining why keeping music programs alive at their schools is so important — for a chance to win up to $10,000 in prizes!
You’ve got from now until April 12 to head over to DoSomething.Org/Battle to upload your video and start securing votes. And if you make it to the finals, judges (including me!) will vote on which students’ schools should get things like a $5,000 scholarship or 30 tickets to see a concert in their area.
And be sure to tweet this post to your friends to let them know how to get involved. So let’s all Do Something to save music education in schools!
