OK … so I realize the casting rumors where Britney Spears is concerned are getting a bit out of hand … but, it’s our dear Britney, and I can’t help but share the sometimes ridiculous rumors as I come upon them ;) Yesterday we learned that Britney is REPORTEDLY interested in joining Fox‘s The X Factor as a judge … and earlier this month, we learned that Britney is REPORTEDLY interested in guest starring on ABC‘s Modern Family. Today we hear ANOTHER rumor that she is REPORTEDLY interested in a recurring guest spot on NBC‘s new Broadway drama Smash. Could it be? Could Britney really be headed for the Great White Way on the small screen?
Britney Spears is ready for her close-up. She’s done Glee, and now Britney is angling for a recurring role on Smash. According to a pal, Britney, 30, is already hooked on the NBC show — which takes place around a fictional Marilyn Monroe-based Broadway musical — and she’s working hard to join the cast, even for just a few episodes. A friend says Britney has always wanted to perform on Broadway, and this show would give her that chance — on TV at least. “She’s met with producers, and they’re looking for the appropriate role for her,” says the friend.
Alright … full disclosure … I don’t actually believe any of these casting rumors. Except for the Modern Family one, Britney herself has had nothing to say publicly about either The X Factor or Smash. It seems to me that gossips are bummed out that Britney is taking some downtime to be with her family and friends — out of the public eye — and they keep coming up with these fantasy scenarios where she comes back into the spotlight by appearing on various TV shows. While it’s possible that Britney MIGHT be interested in making her return to TV, it’s also possible that all of this talk is just a bunch of bullshizz. Still, it’s fun to imagine what it would be like to have Britney on any of these TV shows. If she wants to come back to TV, she’ll be able to do so … but until we hear something definitive, we prolly shouldn’t get our hopes up. But, again, it is fun to dream … ;)
