Back in February of LAST YEAR, Paris Hilton starting talking about the forthcoming release of a new album of music … but midway thru 2011, she decided to change up her vibe a bit and move from the world of Pop music to the world of House music. Last month, Paris updated that her new House album was near release … and by the sound of the new song she *just* released, it would appear that she is very close to releasing her new album. Paris, who teamed up with producers called Manufactured Superstars, dropped a new song yesterday titled Drunk Text … and it simply must be heard to be believed.
I mean … really? LOL. As much as I kinda want to hate this song … I don’t really hate it. Let’s be honest here, it’s barely a song. Paris is actually speaking the lyrics, not singing them. The song is more spoken word than anything. As for the silly story told via the even more silly lyrics, well, silly is what Paris Hilton does best. It seems to me that Paris has finally come to the realization that no one takes her seriously — at all. With that realization, she can do stuff like this that is cheeky and tongue-in-cheek … which ends up coming across a bit … charming. I know! I’m shocked, too. I have to say that my favorite line from the song is:
You take the word ‘Sex’ and mix it with ‘Texting’ / It’s called ‘Sexting’
Not since 2ge+her dropped the line U + Me = Us / I know my Calculus has a pop song so artfully explained mathematics so cleverly ;) I’m heartened by the fact that Paris Hilton appears to have finally abandoned the ridiculous pipe dream that she can ever become a Pop star. This is the kind of music that I can actually appreciate from her. Music like this, to me, is like that dessert you see on the menu that is made out of marshmallow cream, gooey caramel, melted chocolate, artificially-flavored strawberry sauce and candy rainbow sprinkles on top. It’s not something anyone would ever seriously eat for any nutritional value at all. But sometimes, you’re in the mood for something sweet, full of empty calories, that will satisfy your sweet tooth for the moment but then will end up giving you a stomach ache the day after. It’s fluff. It’s vapid. It can be fun. I gotta say, I am marginally entertained by this Drunk Text song … let’s see what other musical offerings Paris Hilton has to offer.
So … I gotta know … what do y’all think of this musical masterpiece?
