First Listen: Paris Hilton Drops A New Song Called ‘Drunk Text’

Back in February of LAST YEAR, Paris Hilton starting talking about the forthcoming release of a new album of music … but midway thru 2011, she decided to change up her vibe a bit and move from the world of Pop music to the world of House music. Last month, Paris updated that her new House album was near release … and by the sound of the new song she *just* released, it would appear that she is very close to releasing her new album. Paris, who teamed up with producers called Manufactured Superstars, dropped a new song yesterday titled Drunk Text … and it simply must be heard to be believed.

I mean … really? LOL. As much as I kinda want to hate this song … I don’t really hate it. Let’s be honest here, it’s barely a song. Paris is actually speaking the lyrics, not singing them. The song is more spoken word than anything. As for the silly story told via the even more silly lyrics, well, silly is what Paris Hilton does best. It seems to me that Paris has finally come to the realization that no one takes her seriously — at all. With that realization, she can do stuff like this that is cheeky and tongue-in-cheek … which ends up coming across a bit … charming. I know! I’m shocked, too. I have to say that my favorite line from the song is:

You take the word ‘Sex’ and mix it with ‘Texting’ / It’s called ‘Sexting’

Not since 2ge+her dropped the line U + Me = Us / I know my Calculus has a pop song so artfully explained mathematics so cleverly ;) I’m heartened by the fact that Paris Hilton appears to have finally abandoned the ridiculous pipe dream that she can ever become a Pop star. This is the kind of music that I can actually appreciate from her. Music like this, to me, is like that dessert you see on the menu that is made out of marshmallow cream, gooey caramel, melted chocolate, artificially-flavored strawberry sauce and candy rainbow sprinkles on top. It’s not something anyone would ever seriously eat for any nutritional value at all. But sometimes, you’re in the mood for something sweet, full of empty calories, that will satisfy your sweet tooth for the moment but then will end up giving you a stomach ache the day after. It’s fluff. It’s vapid. It can be fun. I gotta say, I am marginally entertained by this Drunk Text song … let’s see what other musical offerings Paris Hilton has to offer.

So … I gotta know … what do y’all think of this musical masterpiece?

  • Moldavite

This has shades of Madonna’s Justify my Love :s

    • nicole

thats exactly what i thought when i first heard it

  • Jackie

I like the beat and I agree with your comments. I rather have her talking than trying to sing. :)

  • Susan

That was the dumbest sh*t i’ve ever heard. Why isnt she embarrassed? I would be mortified if i created that mess, Just sayin

  • Jose

Haha. I agree Trent. It’s a fun song, not meant to be taken seriously…

  • Iheartaustin

I actually enjoyed her first album sure she’s not a great singer but the songs were caychy… This is fucking dumb

  • Sandy

“To.. you know… dance with my bitches”
    lol This is GOLD!

    • I had to pause it and laugh at that line…so hilarious!

  • c-word

i don’t know why, but her song reminds me of this one:

  • gayana

  • Ash

so Rebecca Black was made fun of.. but this is ok???? ick

  • Mara

she and her wonk need to go away… forever.

  • marcus_em

OMG hilarious! lol it’s fun and sometimes I just like my music to be fun and not deep or emotional.. there is no pretence of talent or musical prowess , I chuckled quite a few times :-)

  • Ellen

She boggles the mind. Paris is a beautiful girl, but I will NEVER take her seriously. I liked her when she and Nicole were together doing the first season of their show….

  • Mr. Minogue

Lol! And it’s still miles better than Madonna’s latest offering.

    • Ummm

How very dare you!!!!! Take that back lol

  • Denise

I like it, but would like it even better if a teenager sang (mouthed) it. Paris is kind of old for this stuff.

    • Denise

      By teenager – meant 18 or 19!

  • tj

i stopped it after 39 seconds
hell 39seconds of my life was too much to waste on paris hilton’s noize

  • pop

This is nothing from her new album. Im not entirely a fan, but im not a hater either. I heard the song that is on youtube with afrojack, and I could see myself loving it in a club. Im not going to hate on her yet. Her first album was a guilty pleasure of mine…not gonna lie.

  • Shavonne

Sounds like a skanky Maya Angelou, but I’m actually kind of into it lol

  • Dezden

2ge+her was GOLD…. this is… well, it honestly almost made me puke.

  • AmandaPalmina

This is the worst thing I’ve every heard. Even the beat sounds like one of the generic ones that you see on a keyboard.
It’s annoying that this is acceptable, but when Rebecca Black makes a youtube video about how 13 year olds like Friday it gets torn apart.

  • Logan

    Are you fucking kidding me?

  • Jenni

    this is HILARIOUS

  • redvispa

uh, are you drunk? That’s the only reason I can think of why you might find this to be even mildly amusing. This is horrible!

    • Jenni

haha no, i just enjoyed laughing at her ridiculousness

  • rOXy

Kind of a non event. Like someone else said, very generic house beat, but I bet those are real stories, and if they’re not, they should be. The “song” itself is just kinda there and tolerable for a background blend. The vid? No thanks. Cheeeeeap. Two things that made me wince were the dirty shot glasses and the spit string in a close up of her lips that had imperfect lip liner. I am glad she is enjoying herself. Going into another era.

  • AmandaMarie

The original vocalist on the track is much much better. Sorry.

  • Autumn

This is so unbelievably bad, i have no words to express how horrible i think this “song” is.

  • Claire

    Is this real life?

  • shoesofpink

“And my mouth kept pouring desperate clauses of random intent.” Wow, that sounds like something from a highschool emo poetry jam.

  • shoesofpink

This seems more like a PSA than a pop song. Basically, don’t do the stupid shit that dumb ass Paris Hilton does.

    • @shoesofpink — LOL. Yes, kinda :)

  • Shannon

    I find her utterly pathetic!

  • Donny

    It’s kind of brilliant!

  • Shan

I’m still dying over your reference to “toge+her” lmao! Those were the days. This song, however? Ridiculous. But I can hear it being played in clubs, maybe remixed a little. Not that I’m happy about that fact, but its Afrojack, and it will get played. :/

  • It’s amusing the beat is OK, you can tell this is just another silly thing she does

  • Monica

    Not really a song IMO
