John Mayer has revealed his new music with a 1 minute preview of his new studio single ‘Shadow Days’. The single is part of his new album Born And Raised which John actually started a little while ago but had to postpone when he found out that he has a throat condition that needed him to take a break from singing. But Yesterday John went to his official Tumblr account to reveal the single and posted a message saying, “Been looking forward to a post like this since October 14, 2010, the first day I started writing this group of songs… Enjoy.” Have a listen to his new stuff. Have you missed John Mayer?
At the end of last year John told fans he was unwell. He said, “This is a temporary setback, though I’m not sure how long or short a period of time it will be,” Mayer wrote on his Tumblr. “I’ve got the best doctors in the country looking after me and I will be singing and touring again as soon as I get the all clear.”
This will be John’s first album since 2009′s Battle Studies. The good news is that John is well again and is back into his music so hopefully we wont have to wait so long next time for more John Mayer tunes. The song ‘Shadow Days’ definitely has a John Mayer sound to it, soothing vocals, guitar and drums. It is also a bit less poppy and has a slightly more rock feel to it I think. The lyrics are also characteristically Mayer with lots of love and making love… “It sucks to be honest / And it hurts to be real / But it’s nice to make some love that I can finally feel.”
Have a listen to the 60 second snippet and get your John Mayer fix until his album comes out later this year.
