Last September we learned that Nike decided to release a line of shoes based on the futuristic 2015 shoes that were worn by Marty McFly in the film Back to the Future II (you may also recall that a few weeks later, I was one of the lucky few to procure a pair of the limited edition shoes). Today we learn that Mattel will be releasing later this year a prop replica of the futuristic 2015 hoverboard that was also featured in Back to the Future II. HMMM … don’t you think a hoverboard would go very nicely with the Nike Air Mag shoes?
Back to the Future Hover Board: Finally! This totally awesome 1:1 replica of the hover board from the BTTF 2 and BTTF 3 films includes multiple whooshing sounds and will glide over most surfaces (does not actually “hover” – check back in 2015 for that feature). We’ll be taking orders for it March 1 – March 20, 2012, and the final product will be shipped around November/December 2012. Because this is such a high-cost item, there will be a minimum number of orders required to go into production. If we don’t receive the minimum orders, won’t go into production and customers will not be charged. The price will be announced later this month. (Note: Hover board does not work on water.)
OMG … how much do I LOVE this?! As SOON as I got my BTTF shoes last year I started looking around on eBay for hoverboard prop replicas but I never found one that looked believebly real. I am really excited that Mattel is planning to manufacture these hoverboards themselves because, as we know, they’re the company that made the hoverboards “real” in the future 2015. LOVE LOVE LOVE this so much! I can’t wait to see what these things look like in person :) What do y’all think … are any of you interested in getting your hands on your own hoverboard?
