A few weeks ago we heard that Halle Berry was in court seeking a restraining order against a stalker of hers. Then Halle was back in court because she was fighting her daughter, Nahla’s dad for custody, after she feared his temper with their nanny. Seems like Halle is involved in the court system all the time these days, but now TMZ has broken the story that she may be in serious danger and needs to leave the U.S.
It has been reported that there have been serious threats to Halle’s life from a stalker, so she is asking a judge for a change to her custody rights so that she can move to France with Nahla. Evidently, Nahla’s dad, Gabriel Aubry is not happy about this and is trying to prevent Halle from taking Nahla out of the country.
According to TMZ, Robert Hoskins, a man who suffers from a psychological condition and who escaped from a mental institution last week has made serious threats to Halle’s life, telling her that he wants to “slit her throat.” You might remember that this was the same guy that threatened Madonna a few years ago and was actually shot by her bodyguard after he trespassed onto Maddie’s property back in ’95. So this guy actually has a history. Yikes!
Understandably, Halle is very scared because a threat like that, even from someone who has a history of mental illness is terrifying. And, in some cases, someone with a mental illness actually has more of a potential to actually go through with a threat like this one. Accepting that this story is accurate, and not an exaggeration, I feel for Halle because she has to put her safety and the safety of Nahla above everything else. I am conscious though of the amount of time Halle is spending in court these days, fighting the law or someone else. A lot of Pink readers have commented that Halle has become quite a fighter these days.. still, this is pretty scary.
That’s frightening. I may watch too many crime shows, but I think the law should be a lot harder on stalkers. That man should be getting therapy in a secure facility, not free to threaten the lives of citizens. Halle is lucky she has the money to run that far from her stalker. Others are not so lucky.
Is it wrong that in my mind my first thought was “another way to get the baby daddy out of the picture”?
I just heard that they captured the guy like a block from his mental institution. Halle is safe once more.
Seems convenient to me. Courts don’t side with you so far in custody battle so now you have to go to France where your boyfriend happens to be? I don’t know all the details of course but Halle is starting to seem like a manipulative and vindictive shrew in all this. While I think she has reason to be concerned about a stalker it seems she is taking advantage of the situation.
Wow. Could you guys be anymore cynical? Halle being manipulative is a better option than this guy following through on his threats, especially if Nahla is with her. If I had someone threatening to slit my throat and a boyfriend who lived in another country you’d better f*cking believe I’d “take advantage of the situation” and move my baby to a place that’s safe.
Also if, I had an ex who threw the n word at me(if it’s true) I wouldn’t want my half-black child around that kind of anger and hate. Trust.
I was thinking of the ex that shoved the nanny who was holding the kid type of anger. I wouldn’t want my kid around that either.
Exactly. There are always two sides to a break up, but it sounds like Halle should not be the one who is catching all the sh*t.
