Already today we’ve seen video of Madonna‘s AMAZING Super Bowl XLVI halftime show and we’ve heard about the, IMHO, completely asinine “fingergate” controversy that seems to be growing over M.I.A. middle finger flipping at the Super Bowl yesterday … but let’s move the focus back to something more positive from the big game. Kelly Clarkson was chosen as the featured performer of The Star Spangled Banner before Super Bowl XLVI yesterday and by pretty much all accounts — she gave an excellent performance. Click below to watch video of Kelly‘s beautiful rendition of our national anthem.
Without question, The Star Spangled Banner is one of the most difficult songs to sing. It’s a song that is full of hard notes to hit and, unfortunately for some, difficult lyrics to remember. There wasn’t a single hint of either problem in Kelly‘s performance of the song yesterday. Clarkson didn’t have to resort to vocal theatrics, nor did she have to overdue it with dramatics in any way … she just sang the song and did so beautifully. It’s been a very long time since I’ve really loved a performance of The Star Spangled Banner (not since Whitney Houston‘s performance at Super Bowl XXV back in 1991) but Kelly really nailed the song wonderfully. I love her performance, did you?
