Could Mariah Carey Be The New ‘X-Factor’ Judge?

Just a few days ago we learned that Simon Cowell made the executive decision to get rid of Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger and Steve Jones from The X Factor. Statements were made and niceties exchanged, but really we don’t know what actually happened. Today, there is talk going around of Mariah Carey being a possible new judge on the show. Nothing is confirmed and good friend, and manager, Randy Jackson, has just mentioned it… but still, it is not that unbelievable. Read on for the details about what he said about Ms Carey.

Randy Jackson, American Idol judge and Mimi’s manager spoke with reporters yesterday and triggered tongues wagging around town about whether Mariah could be the next X-Factor judge.

When asked if he thinks Carey would be a good judge for The X Factor, Jackson said, “She’d be amazing. I mean, I manage her, so of course I’m going to say that. She’d be amazing…I don’t know if that’s ever going to happen,” he said. “Look, Simon’s one of the smartest people I know. I’m sure he he’s got some very interesting ideas up his sleeve.”

Hmm… is Randy just making empty comments or is he pretending to know less than he does? The drama following the departure of Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger and Steve Jones isn’t over but they will be needing to replace them and find a new, and no doubt enticing, edge to its next season. I think Mariah would be a pretty great choice for the show… she has the experience, the quality voice, the personality and she would make a great mentor for young musicians. Would it be good for her career though? J.Lo did it, will Mariah follow in her footsteps?

Would you like to see Mariah as a new judge?

I loved the X Factor UK but it really lacked over here and I don’t really like American Idol. I wasn’t sure if I was going to watch the second season of the show but if they’ve got a new host and bring Mariah Carey on (I LOVE the idea of then having Nick as host as someone mentioned on another post) then I would be in

He should never have fired Cheryl Cole!

i would like her as a judge, just happy that Nicole is gone!!! And i agree about Cheryl Cole, wish she would have been an original judge like she was supposed to be. Love her! But i would settle for Mimi :)

This is my first finding out about him getting rid of the other three, thank goodness! None of them had open opinions on good talent and their bickering made me stop watching the show (that, and being dumb enough to send Drew home). I respect and love Simon and am so glad to hear he’s doing what’s best and fair for the show.

As much as I would love to see some real musicians on the panel (not just pop stars that don’t even write their own music), Mariah is at least better than the other two women (though I loathe Nick Cannon and would die if he hosted). I look forward to seeing what next season will bring.
