Earlier this week I reported on Octavia Spencer opening up to reporters at the SAG awards about her take on weight loss, health and body image. Today we got a look at Octavia talking to Ellen Degeneres about the THREE pairs of Spanx she wore to the awards and reveals a hilarious story about losing a bet and as a result having to run down the street in her underwear, wearing only bra, panties and Uggs! She is just so refreshing, funny and honest. Octavia is fast becoming one of my fave stars… Watch the Ellen clip below.
Octavia is so endearing and refreshingly real. We all know that the stars wears Spanx and other ‘behind the scenes’ equipment (Ha!) to make their red carpet debuts. Octavia is just honest about it, and funny! There is no pretending that she just fell out of bed and landed in her gorgeous silver gown. She tells Ellen how you get squished and squashed into the dress and how damn uncomfortable it is to wear not 1 but 3 pairs of Spanx underwear. “I could not party that night because I was being pinched in places I didn’t know it was possible!” She also tells the story about good friend, Melissa McCarthy and her comparing pain levels, only to find out that Melissa had already done to the restroom to take her underwear off.
Earlier in the week I said how wonderful a role model Octavia is about health and body image. Here is a talented and beautiful woman openly talking about her underwear and the need to “suck” in certain parts of her body, just like the rest of us! I love Octavia and I love this clip. Watch it here…
