The 54th Grammy Awards have lined up some pretty amazing artists to perform on Feb 12th. The list is also very varied… we reported last week about the exciting Rihanna-Coldplay performance. This morning the Academy announced they will be adding one more to the lineup, further contributing to the variety, with Grammy icon Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band.
Bruce Springsteen isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but he is a huge icon of American music, so very aptly suited to this year’s Grammy Awards. He is about to release his new album, ‘Wrecking Ball’ in March so this is probably also an opportunity for publicity for himself too.
Springsteen has been unusually prolific in the past decade, releasing seven albums (one, ‘The Promise,’ as part of an ambitious project around landmark 1978 album ‘Darkness on the Edge of Town’). His last studio album of new material was 2009’s ‘Working On a Dream,’ which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 224,000 units, and has sold a total of 594,000 copies in the U.S., according to SoundScan. His touring efforts behind ‘Dream’ and 2009’s ‘Magic’ were hugely successful, grossing nearly $400 million and selling more than 4.2 million tickets worldwide to 177 shows, according to Billboard Boxscore.
The rest of the lineup for the Grammy’s is pretty special too…Adele will making her debut appearance after undergoing vocal-cord surgery, there is Katy Perry, Jason Aldean, Kelly Clarkson, Glen Campbell, The Band Perry, Blake Shelton, Coldplay and Rihanna, Foo Fighters, Bruno Mars, Paul McCartney, Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift. Phew!
Who are you MOST excited to see next Sunday night?0
