A couple of weeks ago, TV Guide previewed the upcoming episode of Glee that will devoted entirely to the music of Michael Jackson and today, right now, we get to check out the full Glee performance of the MJ classic Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’. This very special Michael Jackson tribute episode of Glee won’t air on Fox until Tuesday January 31 … but we do get to check out the Glee version of Startin’ Somethin’ below.
You know, Glee does a lot of things wrong … very very wrong … but the sometimes do things very very right and I think this performance of Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’ is a prime example of what Glee does right. There are so many tiny MJ elements in this performance, you have to wonder what Glee has left for the other 9 MJ songs that will be performed during the ep. The character of Blaine (played by Darren Criss) has to be my fave Glee character … so getting to see him perform front and center, yeah, I’m all about it. If this performance of Startin’ Somethin’ is any indication, this coming Tuesday’s episode of Glee is going to be amazingly fun. It’s just a shame that MJ didn’t live long enough to see this fun tribute to his fantastic music. I think he would’ve really gotten a kick out of a tribute like this.
