Nick Jonas Makes His Broadway Debut In ‘How To Succeed In Business’

There is a new J. Pierrepont Finch on Broadway these days … and his name is Nick Jonas. As you may recall, we said goodbye to Daniel Radcliffe as the lead of the Broadway show How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying … and then we said hello to his replacement Darren Criss. Criss was only able to perform the lead role for 3 weeks before he had to be back in LA to go back to work on Glee … so Nick Jonas has stepped in as the new, semi-permanent lead. Click below to check out photos from Nick’s opening night on Broadway in How to Succeed last night and say hello to the newest J. Pierrepont Finch!

They found fame as a band of brothers who won millions of fans worldwide with their catchy pop tunes. But last night Joe and Kevin Jonas were happy to let brother Nick take centre stage as he began his run in Broadway show How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. The 19-year-old singer took on the role previously played by Daniel Radcliffe and Glee’s Darren Criss, who made a staggering $4million from his run in the show. And it seems Nick is more than a capable contender for taking on the part in the hit musical, judging by the tweets he received following his first performance. Papa Jonas, believed to be the boys’ father, tweeted: ‘WOW! @nickjonas was amazing tonight. My heart is full.’ And Joe wrote on his Twitter: ‘Wow! @nickjonas and the cast of How to Succeed killed it tonight. I couldn’t be more proud of nick.’ Nick himself later tweeted: ‘Thank you all so much for the TT’s and the well wishes for tonight! I love you all.’
As well as the more famous Jonas brothers Kevin and Joe, the siblings were joined by their little-known younger brother Frankie, known fondly as the ‘Bonus Jonas’. Nick was also supported by his Australian girlfriend Delta Goodrem at the opening, although pictures of the former Neighbours star have yet to be seen.

Yes, it sounds like it was a big night for the Jonas family. I can’t say I’m much of a Jonas Brothers fan at all but I can see how Nick could do a good job in How to Succeed. I really loved Daniel Radcliffe’s performance and I understand that Darren Criss brought the house down night after night of his short 3-week engagement so … Nicky has got some big shoes to fill. Here’s hoping he has a very successful run on the Great White Way. I’d hate for him not to Succeed ;)

What???!!! He was AWFUL in Les Miserables. It sucks that they don’t give these opportunities to truly talented Broadway actors, instead they go with a name.

That’s exactly what I was thinking, Daniel Radcliff can’t sing and Nick Jonas is a joke. Darren Criss I understand because he’s actually really talented, but even with him they only picked him because of his name.

He seems like a good fit to me. Good for him. Hope he does well!!

I think he will be great in this! I saw Daniel and Darren both on stage. They both interpreted Finch differently and I look forward to seeing how Nick chooses to portray him. Yes, he was pretty terrible as Marius in Les Mis but very few people are great in every role they play. He had a pretty good Broadway career as a child so I think that makes him a talented Broadway actor.
