The Harris Poll, which surveys 2 thousand plus adults for a week in December has claimed that “America’s favorite actor” is Johnny Depp. This is the second year Johnny has been put in the 1st place according to this survey. Don’t get me wrong, I am a huge Johnny Depp fan, I adored him in Pirates Of The Caribbean and I think he has the rare combination of talent and incredible sex appeal… I just get nervous saying ANYONE is THE top, the numero uno. But, I’m like that with anything, resisting making that decision when inevitably we are always asked to pick that “best”. I always end up saying, “Oh, I love lots of people/restaurants/foods/shoes etc”
Second place went to Denzel Washington and Clint Eastwood in a tie. Here is the top 10….

Depp has consistently proven to be both a favorite of indie filmgoers and one of Hollywood’s biggest draws. His general audience pleasing Disney blockbusters, such as “Alice in Wonderland,” “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and “Pirates” films consistently pulled in between $250 and $500 million (with a high of $513 million) domestically, though his most recent “Pirates” flick, “On Stranger Tides,” slumped to a franchise low of $237 million. His Hunter S. Thompson adaptation “The Rum Diary,” his second film playing the famed gonzo journalist, was a major disappointment, earning just $13 million in America.
Hm…. I thought that Morgan Freeman definitely deserves to be in there, and I’m not so sure about Will Smith and Adam Sandler…George Clooney would be higher up for me, and BEST of all…did you notice that there is only ONE female actor in the top 10- and it’s Sandra Bullock! I’m not sure if that’s a mistake, that this was meant to be the top 10 male actors, or if Sandra really is number 7 out of everyone, men and women… Hmm…

Tom Hanks…definitely. And Sandra. But the rest? No, not in my opinion anyway. George Clooney, while he’s easy on the eye, he’s not such a great actor. And where the hell did they dredge up John Wayne? lol

Streep, yes. Penn, no. Depp, no! no! no! He doesn’t even live here. And, Rum Diary is no Fear and Loathing (um, hello, the muse no longer lives). Seriously, America? Clint Eastwood ties with someone? It’s not like I’d know who to pick, but???
