Popstar Beyoncé gave birth to her firstborn child, Blue Ivy, a little over a week ago and except for a joint announcement released by Bey and hubby Jay-Z, the new mom has not commented publicly to the press … until now. Strangely, the British version of Star magazine claims that they managed to somehow get the FIRST interview with new mom Beyoncé since she gave birth earlier this month. I have to say … not only does it sound strange to me that Bey is already giving interviews (just over a week after the birth of her firstborn baby) but it seems really odd that she would give her first interview to UK Star magazine. HMMM. Click below to read excerpts from this curious interview.
Talking exclusively to Star in her first interview since giving birth, Beyonce Knowles told us she had an “instant connection” with her daughter Blue Ivy. Beyonce gave birth to Blue Ivy earlier this month and the singer admitted the experience was overwhelming. She told us: “Nothing can describe the feeling. You have the instant connection once you know your child is growing inside you, but when you hold it for the first time, the words can’t be found. It’s an old cliche that the thing expectant moms look forward to the most is holding their child in their arms for the first time, but it’s one of those clichés that is a real truth.” Beyonce revealed Jay-Z is equally excited about being a father and said they couldn’t wait to bring their daughter home. She explained: “I am so excited. From the time I knew I was pregnant we have been parents. A child is the greatest gift you can receive, and we are so excited and blessed to be in this situation. We are all great, we are just glad to be going home and starting this new stage of our life. The hospital staff have all been so great, but we were ready to go home and show our beautiful daughter where she will be living.”
The British publication The Metro has more Beyoncé quotes from this UK Star magazine interview:
“As usual, certain things have been made up or exaggerated but that seemed to be the story of the pregnancy,” said the 30-year-old as quoted by British paper Metro. She explained, “Security was very tight but not just for the sake of it. It was for the security of our daughter – that was always the most important thing and everybody involved made it such a safe and smooth process” … “At home, she’ll be part of a normal, loving family with a loving mom, a loving dad, a loving aunt and loving grandparents, just like any other kid.” As for her husband’s involvement in taking care the baby, the R&B diva said, “He will change diapers, of course he will. He is going to be a very hands-on father.” She explained, “He has already said publicly that providing isn’t love. Love is being there. Love is doing the little things for your child.”
You may recall that new dad Jay-Z spoke out publicly about the birth of his daughter by releasing a song called Glory (which features guest vocals by baby Blue and is already ranked on Billboard music charts) … but that made sense. Nothing about this “first interview” with British Star magazine makes sense to me. Why, of all the publications around the world clamoring for the first interview, would Beyoncé choose to give an interview to the British version of a US tabloid magazine. Something about this just seems … off. To be honest, the interview responses attributed to Beyoncé don’t even sound like her. I have to say, I find this Beyoncé interview dubious at best. The full text of this interview is only availble in the print edition of this magazine.
What do y’all think? Does this interview A.) make sense in the first place and B.) sound genuine to you?
