Megan Fox Joins Lindsay Lohan In Talks To Play Elizabeth Taylor In Upcoming Biopic

Last week we learned that former actress/current trainwreck Lindsay Lohan is in negotiations to play the role of Elizabeth Taylor in an upcoming made-for-TV biopic movie for Lifetime TV titled Elizabeth & Richard: A Love Story. Today we learn that Lindsay CLAIMS that she is this close to signing on for the role … but we also learn that another actress is up for the very same role. E! News reports that Megan Fox is also in talks with producers to play this role of Elizabeth Taylor. HMMM. Megan vs. Lindsay for the role of Elizabeth Taylor? HMMMMMM.

Lindsay Lohan is ready to sign on to play Liz Taylor, and she’s going to complete her community service faster than required to clear the decks for shooting the flick. Lindsay — who will appear in court at 10 AM PT for her probation progress hearing — is in the final stages of negotiating the deal — this according to sources very close to the actress/perpetual defendant. We’re told the plan is to sign the deal early next week. And we’re told … Lindsay is actually getting more scripts than she’s received in years — apparently producers have noticed she’s finally showing some maturity.

But not so fast, Lindsay … don’t get too excited about the role just yet … cuz you’ve got some competition for the coveted role:

It appears Lindsay Lohan isn’t the only starlet in talks to play Elizabeth Taylor. Although the Mean Girls star confirmed she is still up for the role in the buzz-worthy biopic to E! News Sunday night at the Weinstein Company Golden Globes after party, we’ve learned Lohan has some competition by way of Megan Fox. “I’ve been talking to Lindsay Lohan directly, and with her reps, and have been in conversations with other actresses, including Megan Fox,” Larry Thompson, the executive producer of Lifetime’s Liz and Dick, told E! News exclusively. Thompson declined to elaborate further on specifics of the negotiations, but added that being in talks with more than one actress is not meant as an affront to the talent involved, but rather is simply de rigueur for projects of this nature. “It’s a very serious selection,” Thompson continued. “It’s like casting for Hollywood royalty.” And speaking of serious, a source tells E! News that while Lohan is still one of the frontrunners for the role, her probation status is “a complication.”

HMMMM … interesting. Firstly, I love how public the casting news is for this made-for-TV movie. Throwing out names like Lindsay Lohan and Megan Fox is sure to get people talking … framing the girls in competition for the same role ensures that the public discourse about this movie will continue. To be honest, and no offense either Lindsay or Megan, if these actresses are the best that producers can come up with for this made-for-TV Lifetime movie then … well … maybe it’s for the best that Elizabeth Taylor is no longer living. An icon like Liz MUST be portrayed by an actress who has the talent to do her life story justice. I’m not sure that anyone alive could really do Liz Taylor’s life the justice it deserves but, I’m sorry to say, I just do not believe that either Lindsay or Megan have the acting chops to get the job done properly. In this instance, casting an unknown might be the better way to go … but, then again, casting an unknown would NOT generate this much attention for the film.

So … if it really does come down to Lindsay vs. Megan … who would YOU prefer play the role of Elizabeth Taylor?

Seriously? These are our options? Okay, well let’s at least go with the girl that act. Her’s hoping Lindsay can get herself together long enough to complete a movie!

    • cmc

I sincerely doubt those are real options. Could you really see Megan Fox doing a made-for-tv movie, let alone a Lifetime one? Her career may not be A-list, but she’s definitely got better options than that. Doesn’t she have like 3 movies coming out in 2012? I think they just want press for the movie.

  • Jax

I rather have a “no name” that can ACT.

  • Jeni

By looking at the pictures above, Lindsey really kind of nails the Liz look… and she used to be good actress…so maybe.

  • Billi

    It’s a lifetime movie…generally speaking they’re all kinda sappy with bad acting…

  • Panti Christ

I guess I am for Lindsay – she captures The Liz a little more. They should pick someone that doesn’t seem like they could’ve been an extra in Girl Interrupted. Crazyazz B!tch’s!

  • Meghan

Megan Fox’s career has really tanked…

  • Sarah

Elizabeth Taylor would be rolling over in her grave if she only knew…… both of these “actreses” are a poor choice.

    • Ella

Totally this. I am not in favour of either… surely there must be better options!

  • Shannon

You need class to play Ms. Taylor. I cannot think of anyone for this role. Maybe Megan if I had to choose…

  • didn’t kate winslet get asked for the part? when she found out lindsay lohan was asked too, she responded with “i have no comment”

  • meme

bitch, please. neither one could do La Liz any justice. especially hohan who looks like a old hag.

Agree 100%…
    Lindsay is delusional

  • blaqfury

Either way i’m probably not gonna it…

    • blaqfury

      *not gonna WATCH it…
      (forgot that key word…lol)

  • Junior Mint

WTF, “Lindsay nailed Liz’s look”? Bitch, please! I think you need to take a lesson in legends honey, because Lindsay hohan could not even nail the epicness of Liz Taylor’s pinky toe!
THe only thing LOLhan can nail, is another desperate designer trying to ride her drama craziness for exposure!
