Today is Martin Luther King, Jr Day here in the US and while many folks have the day off from work, many others are using their “free time” today to volunteer and give back to the community (in the spirit of MLK’s life long work). I know that it may be difficult for some to actually get out and volunteer as much as they might like but I think it’s important that we take some time today and at least pause in reflection of Martin Luther King, Jr’s amazing life and life’s work. If you have some time, I urge you to click below and watch Dr. King’s famous I Have A Dream speech, which was delivered on the National Mall in Washington DC on August 28, 1963.
Dr. King’s message still resonates today … and while our nation has made great strides in equality since this day back in 1963, we stil have a very long way to go for all citizens in the US to enjoy true equal protection and equal freedom. The hard work that Dr. King started in his lifetime continues today … the Dream lives on in each and every one of us. All we have to do is sieze the moment and work toward affecting positive change in ourselves and in the world around us. Happy MLK Day, to one and all.
